'19 TN OT Jackson Lampley (Tennessee signee)

Not Hall of Fame? :)

Information not complete. Need a YouTube video and some NFL dude I’ve never seen play, because I wasn’t born yet, to compare him to. Currently he reminds me of former Bear Tom Thayer because I just watched their Super Bowl story on NFL Network.

“we really have a good chance to bring this team back to the way it was in the ‘90s, kind of when my dad and peyton (manning) and all those guys were there,” said lampley, who’s the son of former tennessee offensive lineman brad lampley. “i’ve also met a lot of those guys who were on those teams that won sec championships, and they were just telling me about how much unity they had. I feel like, if we have a lot of unity in this program, we’ll really do well.”

the younger lampley said he has been back to tennessee’s campus “four or five times” since his commitment to the vols. He most recently attended their spring-ending orange and white game on april 21, and he said he “had a really good time there.” tennessee also hosted him for one of its spring practices in march, and he said he likes what he has seen on the field from pruitt and the rest of the vols’ staff.

“i really like their coaching style,” said lampley, who’s ranked the no. 220 overall prospect and no. 12 offensive guard in the 247sports composite for the 2019 class. "it’s really similar to what i’ve gotten at mba. Really, they’re obviously hard on the guys now, and they’re really doing that just to get them ready for what they’re going to face this fall. “i think the culture of the program is obviously going to be a lot different this fall.”

tennessee offensive line coach will friend and cornerbacks coach terry fair, who recruits the nashville area for the vols, are the main coaches who have stayed in frequent contact with lampley over the past few months. “i really like coach friend,” lampley said. “i think our personalities really jell together. I’ve really liked his coaching style so far, and i really like the way he teaches offensive-line play. He’s pretty intense. “what’s funny is, you get to meet him and he seems kind of laid-back. And then you watch practice, and he’s pretty intense. But i really like that about him.”

while lampley said he’s not “100-percent sure” when he might return to tennessee, he added that he will “probably camp there this summer.” he said he’s looking forward to working with friend and experiencing what it will be like to play for the vols’ new staff. “i feel like it’ll be a great opportunity just to kind of get to know (friend) better, with his coaching style,” lampley said. “i haven’t been to camp since my sophomore year, and i kind of want to go back.”

lampley said he recently hasn’t gotten much “attention” from other schools, and he believes that’s because they know “i’m pretty solid to tennessee.” to say the least, it won’t be easy for anyone to steal him away from the vols. “it’d be really tough,” lampley said. “my commitment's pretty solid. It’d be really hard to pull me away from knoxville.”

Don’t like the fact he isn’t shutting the door on other schools, but still don’t see him going anywhere but Tennessee.

Actually sounds like Morris is the more deeply committed.

I find it's best to not jump to conclusions with quotes like that. It's hard to gauge mood, if he was laughing, etc...

"Geez, we can't even lock down a legacy OLineman from our own home state. This sucks. Pruitt may just not be the guy to get the job done. He is really struggling to close out these guys. We are only 10 months from signing day, we ain't got time to mess around and lose big time commits."

Like I’m saying I don’t see him going anywhere but UT. I just figured he’d shut down the notion of going to another school.

Uhh we like to freak out around here tho

“It would be very hard” to say I’M ALL IN! I SHUT DOWN MY RECRUITMENT! Not for Bama’s instate commits of course...pretty easy for them.

He is waiting to see JP coach the team and how we play it won't be if we win or lose it will be if he can see us trending upward and that JP isn't a joke as a coach, think about it since he was 9 or 10 year's old our head coaching was BUTCH and DOOLEY BOTH WERE A JOKE AND PUNCH LINE for jokes across the country when it came to football, we didn't know how to practice or make halftime adjustment in 10 years, so he doesn't know the real history of TENNESSEE football, most of these elite recruits don't know what Tennessee football is about, these top recruits have seen Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri the bottom of the SEC beating and kicking our azz a lot in the last 5 years, but we Tennessee has to show that we heading in the right direction or they won't even give us a second look much less come here if some hoe this team could win 6 or 7 games this year the recruits will swarm to Knoxville but if it is another 4 win season then its going to be really hard to sway the elite recruits to come here.

Holy run on sentence, Batman!

P.S. he does know the real history of Tennessee football.

I don't disagree. I just think some of us on here love to be miserable and look for any excuse to do so.

I think after the 2019 season, when Pruitt has had two full seasons of coaching and S&C, we will start to see more of the "I’M ALL IN! I SHUT DOWN MY RECRUITMENT! ".
