'25 TN QB George MacIntyre (Tennessee commit)

I love the Merklinger commitment. I just won't go as far as calling him a "generational" talent at this point. There's nothing wrong with being one of the best in your class, without being one of the best in the last 20 years.

As I said earlier I'm super excited about Nico and Jake. But there's no such thing as a guarantee when it comes to 18 yr old HS QB's. DJ Uiagalelei was rated higher than Nico on 247 and he definitely hasn't lived up to the billing. Hoping Nico and Jake both do!

I’m ecstatic that we have Nico, but people calling him a generational talent are jumping the gun IMO.

That's coming from the "experts" in the field. It's hard for people not to get excited when the QB coach that worked with him and Bryce Young says they are of comparable talent, demeanor, and work ethic. Then you consider that Nico is 6'6" compared to BY being 5'10". He has to prove it, but he also has one of, if not the best QB gurus in the game with an offense designed to put up video game numbers.

How can you possibly say that when the major recruiting ranking agencies didn't even unanimously conclude that he was the top QB in the 2023 class? You're being very selective in who you're choosing to believe, and discounting every other opinion. If he was a "generational talent", then there would be consensus.

I don't think DJ went to the best offense for his skill set. He was also hyped up because he had NFL measurables as a high school senior. We'll see what he does at Oregon St. You see Dabo went out and got a new OC.

Who? ESPN.... their rankings were a joke, and we all know why others had Arch ahead of him. This is also considered to possibly be the best class of high school QBs ever.

And I hope to hell that's the case. But DJ Uiagalelei was too and was one of the highest rated QB's ever with a 101 rating and we saw how that went. I want nothing more than for Nico to be our next great QB, then Jake follow him. But as we've all seen there's no gimme when it comes to HS QB's. But most of the time the ones that fail don't have it mentally. It doesn't sound like that's an issue with him, but till he gets poped a few times, fumbles, throws an int etc we just won't know. I haven't been this excited about a FR QB in a long time. Especially one who was the #1 recruit in the country. Hope he wins us several NC's and Heisman's!!
A lot of DJ’s problems came from a lack of development while he was at Clemson along with playing in an atrocious offensive scheme

The only reason he wasn’t the number 1 QB on Rivals and 24/7 is because of Arch’s last name. He had a 100 ranking on 247 too, as far as ESPN goes their rankings are always usually way off from the industry standard

I'm watching video of this guy and he is a gunslinger that would be so ridiculous in a Heupel offense. Please recruit this young man into our arsenal. GBO!!!

Thoughts on where we stand with George McIntyre now that it looks like Clemson will most likely be getting a Commit from the QB from the northeast?
Longterm I love Tn for GMac

I like where TN continues to stand with George right now. I think he is comfortable around the coaches. They have done a good job there.

Kids recruitment reminds me of Arch manning. AM just posted one day he was committed. GM isn’t flashy, won’t talk or post as much as duece will but he likes the staff a ton. Interesting to see how staff handle it but you can probably guess who is #1 on their board by not getting knight in the boat yet. Have a feeling waiting will be the right decision

Interesting that the staff prefers Mac tbh

The 23' class of QBs was regarded as elite at the top in a significant way, the best in a long time. Nico is considered the highest potential of that elite group almost universally. Nothing is a guarantee in recruiting but he's a special talent who seems to have the right mentality.

I don't think so, especially if the staff has plans to take two QBs and Madden Iamaleava is sort of tucked away in the back of their mind. We still need to see him (Madden) taking live bullets as the full-time starter to know what he really has as a QB. GMac is definitely more polished than Deuce, even if Deuce has a potentially higher upside. GMac gives you more of a sure-thing and Madden is a wildcard. You take Deuce and Madden, and you might end up with two kids who may never reach their potential.

Add in the fact that GMac is an in-state kid who you hope has some sway with other Tennessee kids, AND is highly ranked national kid who is seemingly very interested in staying home, it's hard to turn that kind of kid away in favor of another highly ranked guy who comes with more risk.

Gmac definitely has the highest floor (at this point), but Deuce and Madden both could potentially have a higher ceiling. That being said, one of the things I really like about Gmac is how much room he has for physical growth. He could end up 6'6 205 lbs or 6'6 235 lbs while in college.

Totally agree. That's why I think you pursue the guy with the highest floor and then shoot for a guy with a really high ceiling but perhaps a much lower floor (read risk). Taking two high ceiling/low floor guys when a kid like GMac is still an option seems precarious. If GMac were trending elsewhere, then absolutely go get Deuce and Madden.

I think you go ahead and take Deuce now so he doesn’t feel slighted by being looked at as a backup option
