'25 TN QB George MacIntyre (Tennessee commit)

GMAC is the better QB prospect at this point. I’d have him number 1. I’m not saying it’s a wide margin but it’s a clear 1 and 2 and not 1a 1b. After his upcoming season though, I think it could be a 1a, 1b situation.

According to the trusty recruiting sites.

In all honestly - if were going by star rankings- then he and Deuce need to be switched.
Deuce a 5 star. Mac a 4 star.

But that's not the case.
Luckily they play head to head (so that you can see them compete directly against each other on the same field @allvolrecruiting ) in order to get a more clear picture. So yes that head 2 head game on October 20th is a big deal.

According to our coaching staff at this point too. That’s what I care about more than “rating”.

But I think Deuce could be a monster in this offense as well.

What’s your basis for this?

Only matters who Heupel wants more. If GMac “holds the edge”, there’s the answer.
For the difference of opinion to even matter, one would assume that it's Heupel and Halzle that prefer one or the other. So, I would say you're probably correct as to why Gmac holds the edge. But, Heupel highly values the input of his coaches, so we could be completely off on this one.

Thanks for the knowledge, I had no idea they had a H2H this year. I'll definitely be trying to find a way to watch that game.

They're basically even as passers. I think Gmac with his name and lineage got the 5 star. He may be a 5 star when it's all said and done. We'll see.

Knight however can turn a busted play into an 80 yard TD run.
Gmac is a good athlete but he's not going to break the will of the defense with his legs and arm like Knight can.

Knight is the best player in 2025 imo.

Not arguing, simply asking questions bc I’ve seen a few folks say they’re even / Knight is better.

You see them even as passers after watching their highlights?

Any concern about Knight leading his team to a 2-8 record? Should a 5* QB who is an athlete be able to overcome more team deficiencies? He’s got a lot more talent this year after transferring so I’m sure the record will improve. Just some general questions.

Like you, I think GMac is probably the better passer currently, but this upcoming season Knight can and may prove otherwise. I've heard he's made leaps and bounds improvement in his passing so we'll see. Given Knight's athletic ability is why I think there's a chance Knight might have the higher ceiling.

Fair point.

He had about 2,500 total yards along with 24 total TDS. (max preps)
Pretty impressive for a sophomore. But he was literally all they had. And there defense was non-existent.

Bryce Young played at Cathedral in Los Angeles his sophomore year. Lead them to a 10-2 record.
He transferred to Mater Dei that summer. The next year Cathederal went 8-4 or 9-3 without him.
So that team had some talent. And the difference was perhaps minor after they lost him.
And we KNOW how good Bryce was.

That George County, MS team probably won't win many games in 2023.
On the reverse side, Knight is enough of a difference maker to elevate LA past IMG in 2 weeks.
We'll see...

I don't know which one Heupel wants more, but I think he's going to trust his opinion on QB no matter what anyone says. OCs will come and go. This is his offense, he played QB and knows what he's looking for in his QB, and getting the right QB is going to be the most important thing to his success as head coach.

When your signing the top qb’s, your more than likely going to get your share of other top players to follow. Having a very good quarterback is vital in college football. We are in good hands with Heupel and staff here. GBO!

Do you not know the history of Heupel and Halzle? He's not just some OC in this instance.

The last OC wasn't just some OC either. He's gone and a head coach now. Heupel is still here and he has Nico which was the QB he wanted. Halzle could be a HC by time a '25 QB steps on campus.

Tell me you don't know their history without telling me you don't know their history.

Halzle was a QB at Oklahoma when Heupel was OC. Since then, he's spent his entire coaching career with CJH. He's won't be a head coach by '25 and he won't be leaving Heupel to go elsewhere. Halzle and Elarbee are likely with Heupel until someone retires.

Simpson had a chance to cement that status. He didn’t so they added Buchner. Simpson may still start tho.

Yea from what I read last week Simpson has pretty much locked it down. No clue if that's true, but saw it reported several places last week.
