'25 TN QB George MacIntyre (Tennessee)

Dudes got it most of us definitely see that...Hopefully he gets in the film room and works on checking down and taking what the defense gives him.Give some credit to the oline and wrs especially them dudes they were out making plays last nite.Im of firm belief of what we just saw is why the kid was a 5 star with offers galore..

Now saying that does this one game automatically erase the past 10 games of bad ball?No but it does give u hope going forward that he can correct some of those things and continue to progress over the rest of his season...to be continued..Really good all around game by the whole team last nite 🫡

Did you actually watch the last 10 games and did you actually watch the game last night?

This is going to be very interesting if he plays at Tennessee. After Nico it's going to be hard for him to beat Merklinger in my opinion but not impossible. That would be Faizon's redshirt year and I'm higher on Faizon personally. Great problem to have in that room.

I won’t count Merk out by any means and he has a time advantage over GMAC, but GMAC has the higher ceiling. by all means I’m rooting for Merk to prove me worng but I see GMAC as the starter in 26.

Could be, time will only tell. Like I said though, either way it's a very good problem to have.

Someone will be the odd man out and transfer. Nico will start in 25, then leave. In 26, competing for the job, you’ll have:

Merklinger (RSSo.)
MacIntyre (RSFr.)
Brandon (Fr.)

Best case scenario is Merk wins the job in 26, plays so well he goes pro, then Mac starts in 27 as a RSSo., goes pro either after that year or the next, then Brandon starts in 28 or 29, depending on when Mac leaves.

Certainly ideal but gosh it seems like a long shot it would end up that way and everyone be happy BUT if anyone can pull it off Josh can with the culture he’s built and the magic he creates with QB’s

Right. Which is why I started the post with “someone will transfer” before dreaming of the ideal scenario. 😂 That’s more likely. Either way, we’re set at QB for the next 6 years or so. Nico will give way to Merk and/or Mac who will give way to Brandon.

I will be surprised if Merklinger doesn't win the #2 job later in the year.

I think Merk would start due to knowing the system better than both.

He would probably be here at least till his junior season so Mac would be a RS Jr. and Faizon would be a RS Soph when they get their chance.

Like you said, one of them will transfer out. Great problem to have.

I really like Merklinger but I believe he will be the one who leaves. A casualty like Tavyen Jackson was.

Yeah that's my thought as well...he could certainly run away with it but GMac being more talented (and I'm sure Heupel & staff will develop him next year when he gets here), and then Faizon being the most talented of the 3 and a generational type talent.

Watched the game on NFHS tonight. His downfield passing remains great but if I had to make a legitimate knock on him it would be that he makes that his thing. He’s gotta learn to take what’s underneath and not go for the big play every single play. That became pretty evident when he ignored some easier throws in the red zone where the field shrinks. Was the difference in 3 TDs and 3 FGs. Outside of that looked pretty good pushing the ball down the field. Also had a dot to KeSean Bowman that Bowman ended up scoring on that was called back
That’s a good problem to have just playing hero ball at the high school level, easily coachable.Much better than the DJU can’t throw the ball more than 10 yards.

THIS is one situation I won't speak on.

Well all just need to let that play out. We need our QB to continue being our best recruiters.

I think Merk could be a lot like Hendon: athletic gamer with a good arm. Question is how long it takes him to develop. Mac and Brando are more in the Nico mold it would seem. As everyone else is saying, it’s a wonderful problem to have.

Merk is a Vol and wants to be in Knoxville. It will not shock me to see him take the reins and run with it when it’s his time. I am not putting expectations on him, but think Casey Clausen with a lot better wheels. He is a warrior at QB

Agree here, I like Merk and it won’t surprise me he ends up the guy. I just think it’s going to be awful tempting to replace Nico with another 6’6.5 215lb redshirt freshman all over again.

Personally think Brandon and Nico are at a different level than GMac. GMac is at a higher level than Merklinger. Nico and Brandon are Top 5 players in the country. That's a huge disparity from a borderline 5* who has dropped some. I'm not hating on Mac but he's not in the same level IMO.
