You haven't seen Knight play at all his junior season. Based on his 7v7 work this summer, he has progressed a lot as a passer. And...he got bigger and stronger. The gap between them as passers might not be as great as you think. Knight will be in a completely new offense with all new teammates, so early on his athleticism is likely to be on full display until they build some chemistry this season. Most that prefer Knight is because of his ceiling in this offense and the fact that he publicly reps the Vols at every event. I haven't seen anyone disparage GMAC. One just clearly shows more love for the good guys, and the differences as prospects are negligible at the current time.
I've stated before that MacIntyre was more advanced as a passer up to this point. That's not even a start thing. It's something you can clearly see from sophomore highlights. I wouldn't base much of my opinion on last night's scrimmage though. Pearl-Cohn is a public school that always starts the season out of shape, then plays themselves into shape during the season. They don't have a team full of kids that are dedicated to summer workouts and their coaching is inferior to that of Brentwood Academy. That's not a knock on GMAC. He did what a top QB should do under those circumstances.Haven’t seen either play Jr season so absolutely subject to change but their soph stats alone point to GMac being the better passer. We’ll know soon enough.
Just speaking to the gap between them as passers, perceived or otherwise.
Deuce isn't just some athlete playing QB. The kid can rip it. He just happens to be a top flight athlete as well. That's what makes his ceiling so high at the next level. Every QB you mentioned is an above average athlete at the position. They're all capable of hurting a team with their legs, eventhough they're not considered "running" QBs. Joe, Nico, Merk, and Tayven. Macintyre fits that mold as well. Deuce just has the ability to do that on a much higher level than any of those guys (even Hendon Hooker).I know, but if you think about it, the qbs Heup brought in (Milton, Nico, Merklinger, Jackson) dont scream running qb. I feel like Heup incorporated a lot of the qb run stuff for Hooker to play to his abilities, I feel like he will do that for any qb that’s here

Knight actually pulls away as a runner.Deuce isn't just some athlete playing QB. The kid can rip it. He just happens to be a top flight athlete as well. They both likely end up in the top 5 QBs for '25. You can't go wrong either way when your coach is a QB whisperer. I think a lot of people fear GMAC ending up at Bama, where Deuce is rumored to be at Notre Dame if he doesn't come here.Knight actually pulls away as a runner.
And as I've said before, he's quite literally on GMACs heels as a pure passer. Mechanics, speed release you name it.
GMAC is a P5 Basketball prospect as well. He can run and also has the attitude to distribute.
Both of them will hurt your defense by finding the open man. Both can run for that critical 3rd down when nobody is ready for it.
I never said they couldn’t run, i just said GMac was every bit as athletic as the rest of the QBs. And theres a difference in the running style of Hooker as compared to Milton/Nico and the rest of them, Hooker was twitchy, the rest are straight down the field runners. I doubt we would see any of them evade defenders running it unless they lower the shoulder... Nico won MVP of his All- Star game in part because of his 68 yard TD run.
Merklinger is definitely a runner.
Joe Milton doesn't like to run, but he can.
Tayven Jackson ran the veer in high school .
Apologies, but did you pay any attention to them at all???
