Walk-ons may be all you can count on for depth at the quarterback position in this new era. We are doing quite well in that department it seems.

I could see one of these type guys being a hero down the line, closing out a game when our starter has to sit for a possible concussion or something.

"I've been wanting to go to Tennessee since I was a little kid," Damron told GoVols247 about his decision. "Grew up a Tennessee fan. That was always the main goal. Whenever I would think about playing college football, I would think about doing it at Tennessee. That's always been my goal. Everybody puts it on their wall because it's something they want to reach and obtain. That was always my thing. I just wanted to make it to Tennessee. I'm grateful. It's something I've always wanted to do, so it was a no-brainer at the end of the day once I heard I was going to be given that opportunity."

..."I'm going to bring a great work ethic," Damron said. "I know I'm not the biggest guy and I don't have the strongest arm, but I'm going to come in there and compete every day, whether that's competing for a spot or making someone else better. I'm going to do my best in whatever they ask me to do because this opportunity doesn't come very often. I'm going to do everything I can to make the most of it."

Very good pick-up.

Almost wonder if the Stetson Bennett strategy was just ahead-of-its-time. With NIL, transfer portal, evolution of the game, it's difficult to keep more than 2 elite SEC-level QB / QB prospects on your roster. So getting a bunch of high-quality PWOs may be the way to go. With Moore, Shuler, and Damron, we now have at least 3 that could probably play for G5 / FCS school.
