You don’t invite Clay Travis and have an auditorium full of Vol fans just to announce you’re going to Bama.
Cmon people, you’re making this way harder than it should be.
Its the perfect troll. I’d be shocked if he picked UT.
It’s like the Undertaker showing up the Rock in Miami.
i tend to agree, on the notion that he would 'bring' others with him, as if there's a group of guys waiting to see what he does before they decide.......Would it help? I sure haven't seen all that many instances of a QB recruit "bringing in" other players.I've seen kids go to OTHER schools because of who is committed but rarely the other way around. I think that Simpson would open the floodgates to all these great recruits is a myth.

the only thing i think a TS commitment does for the 22 class, is it gets others in state guys to maybe take another look at TN, it becomes an asset to recruit with for the staff; they dynamic changes.
if he goes somewhere else, it doesn't make it any more difficult....it just remains difficult. we don't have him in the boat today, and should we not have him in the boat Friday afternoon....nothing really changes as to the dynamic of this class with in state recruits.....so it is what it is on that front imo.
Nuh uh.
He compiled a list of super-secret super-qualified coaches for us to hire last month from his rolodex. All by himself. Like a true VFL.
I generally agree, but a QB dang sure can. Swap out JG the past few years with a top-tier QB1, and I think we see vastly different records, which builds momentum on the recruiting trail. This reminds me of Steve Sloan from Cleveland picking Bama over UT where he won NC. By the end of his Bama career UT was on the rise and beating Bama every year. One recruit does not make a program.
There are friendships that come into play. Possible leverage. The question we don't know is how much of a part would that friendship play in the decision of other players. If TS commits elsewhere and UT gets a commitment from Horn then we are really not in any different spot. In either situation we have a highly regarded, highly ranked QB commit. If other players are looking at committing to UT, then UT is in the same situation with either of them committed. The only real difference is the relationship that TS has with some other recruits. Relationships that have been built over many years. How much difference that makes is what we do not know.
Hunter Johnson was big in landing Tee Higgins for Clemson. Then they shot him out of a cannon never to be seen again. Programs build their classes around top end QBs...it’s a thing.Would it help? Our fanbase is creating an unfair narrative around Ty’s decision.
“He knows the ramifications of not picking TN.”
“He knows it would crush our program if he announced his commitment elsewhere.”
And many, many more hyperbolic statements. Listen, I desperately want Ty to be a Vol, but why is it some 17 year old kid’s responsibility to pick us because he grew up a Vol fan? His ultimate goal is to win championships and get to the NFL, not please our fanbase. I can’t blame him if he thinks it’s more secure to go elsewhere.
Not exactly. Ty’s desire to play in Knoxville and love for Tennessee doesn’t exactly come from the place of being a lifelong fan, so I think some people have the wrong idea about that. He has an affinity for his home-state school because it’s the home-state school. But his dad has been at Chattanooga and now UT Martin, so Ty has looked at it from a different perspective. He hasn’t disliked UT or anything like that. I just don’t think he had a bedroom full of orange and stuff like that, if that makes sense.
I just think, as a recruit, Simpson has liked the idea of playing at Tennessee, being in Knoxville and being up there with some people he knows and likes — things like that — and the idea of representing his state has appealed to him. But if we’re talking about being a lifelong Tennessee fan, Sam Horn fits that description better than Simpson. Horn’s family has had season tickets for years, so he has grown up going to games and his parents and brother have gone to UT. Simpson isn’t quite in that same boat.
i don't think these guys, like horton or james etc. are gonna decide on TN because Ty picks TN. Horton can still to to Bama. James can still go to UGA. and play with as good, or really better, players on the whole.
package deals usually are only a thing when there's one or more parties in the package that are completely reliant on the other for their ticket in to a school, and the one player that is actually coveted is in a position of leverage.
ty may have some leverage, but the prospects we're talking about don't need Ty. they have a spot at TN should they want it.
all adding Ty would do is change the dynamic for what this staff can offer as far as vision. adding Ty enhances their ability to do that.
