TN Ranked #26 in recruiting

Those contenders also have a wealth of depth that we don't. Until that's dealt with it, it doesn't matter how much talent you got unless you got bodies backing you up.

There's more to having depth than just having bodies. They have to be able to actually play against SEC talent without getting killed.

We need to be consistently in the top 5 if we want to be top dogs in the SEC.

Well hopefully DD doesn't go anywhere after this year, before kiffin i didnt know that you could put a recruiting class on reserve just to take them to another team :(

So we're in the 25ish range on 2 of the 3 rankings and you have to believe Johnsons commitment bumped us in the ESPN rankings too...

We've got 10 spots left in this class...I think most of those spots are reserved for specific players (i.e. Richardson, Clear, Arnett, etc.)...

If we fill those spots with our top priority guys a consensus top 15 is inevitable...more importantly , our glaring needs will unquestionably have been met in this class

that is the main point. filling needs. i do agree with some others that the 26th  thing is kinda awkward.

LOL at the fact that having a Top 30 class is a Booyah moment. Sad....

Tennessee has always been a strong closer in recruiting and we actually have more quality commits than I can ever remember this early in the process..Your negativity is sad. Booyah

To build a wall you gotta start one brick at a time. Recruiting is cumulative. Fortunately we get to keep adding bricks until February. Patience people...

the whole "stars dont matter" argument is played out...they do matter, and to compete on the national level you have to have consistent top 10-15 classes... but people need to be realistic in where we are as a program... we are not there...we just need to get back to competing for a New Years Bowl... this class is pretty good imo.... there are a few reaches (Harris, Parker, Power) but the rest of the guys committed to us have multiple SEC offers or fill glaring positions of need.... if you dont like commits like Kerbyson or Posey you are insane...same with Randolph and Smith....may not be really highly rated, but they can contribute

You must have been living under a rock last year.

We have a long way to go, and I think a handful of our guys are vastly underrated in the current rankings, which will play out (Kerbyson, Smith, Worley, Randolph, etc.)

yeah....if we end up top 15, and all of these guys stay in school and are 100% committed to bettering themselves and the team, then this will be the class that begins the turnaround, IMO.....

Agree. Talented recruiting, we've had, smart behavior & work ethic once here, we haven't. AND, Kiffin ran off a sh&t ton of people, so that didn't help.

OL are never rated highly? You're either new to this recruiting game, or just completely clueless.

From Rivals Top 100:
5 stars: QB (0), RB (1), WR (1), TE (0), OL (2), ATH (2), DE (1), DT (0), LB (4), and DB (2)

4 stars: QB (7), RB (14), WR (9), TE (6), OL (11), ATH (12), DE (10), DT (8), LB (4), and DB (6)

4 & 5 stars: QB (7), RB (15), WR (10), TE (6), OL (13), ATH (14), DE (11), DT (8), LB (8), and DB (8)

I am sure every year is different from the next, but the 2011 rankings do not appear to be weighted against offensive linemen.

If we have lower ranked classes it'll be interesting to see if it's an evaluation thing (they see things others don't) or just plain failure. I'm sort of giving Dooley a pass this year just because we have so many holes to fill.

We got our hats handed to us by an Oregon team whose overall recruiting star rankiings are lower than ours the last four years. (go back and check it out) Recruiting rankings don't mean squat if you don't get players who actually qualify and stay in school.
