'25 TN RB Daune Morris (Tennessee)

So every HS kid is better off making important life decisions without the advice of their family and close advisors? I don’t think so. JMO
If family is giving bad advice, like say, telling him USC is a better choice than Tennessee, then absolutely they should be ignored. Tennessee should always be the choice.

Oakland is onto the Class 6A quarterfinals in the TSSAA football playoffs via the legs of running back Daune Morris.

Morris scored five touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 2:39 left, to give the Patriots a 35-28 victory over Mt. Juliet on Friday in the TSSAA football second round game at Ray Hughes Stadium. The USC commitment scored touchdowns runs from 41, 2, 25, and 1 yard out while also recording a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown. He finished with 228 rushing yards and 364 all-purpose yards.

Meh.

3*.

😆

I just watched his Hudl for the first time from his Junior year, and he's a really nice prospect no doubt, but it looks like that Oakland team is really well coached as well. The offensive play calling, sets and execution were excellent.

I don’t think we’ve scored on that thang since Evan Berry

The rule changes have the most to do with that. But man, Evan Berry was fun to watch on kick returns.

Honestly, the best thing about Butch was the return game. I’ve been told that he was personally very involved in the punt and kick returns and spent a lot of time on it. Given that he doesn’t have the tools to be a P4 head coach, he should go be a special teams coach somewhere. That’s his biggest strength, IMO.

Sure we do. Lewis returned 2 yesterday, including one where he was pinned in the corner and Tennessee got called for a block out of bounds. 🤬
Low key was a huge play in the game. Dumb decision to bring it out in the first place and basically ended one of only 3-4 drives we had the entire half before it started.

Yep. With the fair catch rule, there is very little reason to ever return a kick now. The odds of getting to the 25 are low based on where the ball is now kicked from, and the odds of getting a penalty are nearly as high as getting to the 25.

But you SURE AS HELL don’t return it when you’re pinned up against the sideline. That was a no-brainer fair catch. But Lewis returned it, didn’t get near the 25 and we got a penalty.

Not sure why Seldon isn’t back there. His redshirt is burned.

I said the same thing out loud when he did it. "What are you doing?!?!?"

Just another in a long line of plays where we shot ourselves in the foot. Freshman mistake. Hopefully Duane Morris won't make the same mistake.¹

¹Mentioning the recruit name is a means to keep this thread on topic so that this doesn't get banished to the off-topic thread.

Nice work! As an attorney, I appreciate what you did there. ;)
