'26 TN TE Carson Sneed (Tennessee commit)

5.19.24: Being mixed in between the running backs and the wide receivers, or facing linebackers or defensive backs, one thing was clear: Carson Sneed was the best tight end performing on Sunday. At 6-foot-6, 230-pounds, the Tennessee native was a matchup nightmare for every defender to line up against him....Sneed showed off his advanced route running ability and the balls to track and go up and get it. He also flashed the ability to contort his body and adjust to make the catch. Sneed certainly backed up his status as a top-100 prospect in the class...

A close look at the rankings shows that several guys ahead of him are 6’3” or 6’4” and weigh no more than 215. They are listed as “tight ends” but actually play wide or in the slot. They rarely if ever play attached and have few if any blocking highlights on HUDL. Once they get to college they will need to really put on some weight and improve their physical game.

Not to say all of the kids ahead of him are that type of guy. There are a few every-down actual tight ends up there also. But slim “tight ends” in high school play a completely different game than true every-down tight ends in college who have a different skill set and create matchup nightmares at +/- 255-260 pounds.
