Jamal Mosley - Football Recruiting

Tight end
Memphis (TN) Kingsbury
Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 228 lbs
Class: 2008 (High School)

From Mississippi Scout

What was Jamal's reaction when he found out about Coach Orgeron's firing?

“I was shocked to say the least when I fount out. I am waiting to see what they do with Coach Freeze. If he stays around, I am going to say around. I have not talked to Coach Freeze, but that is what I am going to tell him. I new coach might bring in his own guys and get rid of coach Orgeron’s recruits.”
Ole Miss hired Coach Nutt this morning and Mosley has no problem with the hire under one condition.

“If he decides to get rid of Coach Freeze, I will have to open my recruitment back up. It really shocked me. I mean, I talked to the old staff Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I was telling them about my ACT score. I made a 20 on it. Everyone was so happy that I qualified and getting ready for next year. Like I said, if Coach Freeze goes, I go. But I do like Coach Nutt a lot. I have a lot of respect for him. I have a partner who goes to school there and he loves it. He speaks highly of Coach Nutt. I just want Coach Freeze to stay, that's all.”

Anymore colleges making contact with Mosley as of late?

“Tennessee is starting to come after me hard and so is Michigan State . I talk to them on a weekly basis. Tennessee is coming after me real hard though. They are coming to see my mom Thursday to tell her how my recruitment is going to go. Michigan State is coming by here tonight.”

is this the kid with the restraining order against him? I think I heard about this on the radio today, just didn't know who they were talking about

Yea that's him. He's been caught for possession of marijuana too...

If anyone can keep him in line, it is Orgeron and CLK...

We have had some very good players leave because they couldn't leave the mary jane alone.

What does he bring to the team? Can he contribute...obviously he will have to sit out a year, but then what?

Does he fit at TE, or does he go to WR or DE?

I guess I will default to CLK and CEO's judgement. If they will take him, then I am cool with it.

John Brice just said on VQ that this is pretty much a done deal. Mosely will be on campus tomorrow, and if everything goes according to plan, enrolled and on scholarship at UT by tomorrow afternoon...

He will be a sophmore and will be redshirting this season. That means he will be a redshirt sophmore next year and will be able to play 3 years for the Vols...

A guy who should get some credit in this is Mike Gundy (I'm a man, I'm 40), the head coach at OSU. He helped with getting Mosley moved to UT and knew that Mosley was getting a raw deal with the "problems" at OSU. Having Mosley's best interests in mind, he granted him a full release from OSU which will allow him to be on scholly this year at UT...:hi:

He is 6-4 254. Last year as a true freshmen, he had 5 catches for 57 yards. This coming year, he was going to be the starting TE for OSU after the departure of 1st round pick TE Brandon Pettigrew...

He should be a solid player. With all the problems our TEs are having catching the ball, I think he could make an immediate impact in 2010...

Orgeron recruited him at Ole Miss. He knows the kid fairly well I think...

What's the status on his eligibility remaining? Did he attend class this year?

He should be on scholarship and enrolled at UT tomorrow afternoon. He will redshirt this year, and then have 3 years left to play 3...

Coach Duron Sutton is a long time great friend; he sent Laron Harris to UT but Laron didn't work out, making him go to Ut instead of Auburn. Duron has been keeping me abreast of the rather rapid ever changing situation regarding Jamal. Jamal's mother rented from me for many years; she was rare, in Memphis, for a renter, in that she paid her rent on time. Jamal's dad is in the service but rarely home or in the conversation, thus Mrs. Mosley has been raising Jamal. Jamal chose Ok. State over OleMIss and numerous other Div 1A programs. He was slated to start for OKla State. Duron says that Jamal got involved with the wrong crowd at Okla State; a white lady, the daughter of one of Okla State's biggest boosters, stalked, fell in love, with Jamal, an AA, much to the consternation of her father. Jamal saved her numerous text messages seeking sex, etc. Jamal is not only a good athlete, he's a good person, according to not only Coach Sutton, but ALL the Okla State coaches. They did not want Jamal to leave, but considering the booster's influence, the AD had no choice. Mrs. Mosley left Stillwater today, to sleep over in Memphis tonight, and then drive to Knoxville tomorrow. Coach Sutton has had to fight off Auburn,in particular, because of Trooper Taylor, and several other SEC programs. Duron let it be known with all the schools that a scholarship offer would have to be on the table or there was no reason to talk. He convinced Jamal that because of Kiffin and Orgeron, UT was the best program for him. Duron Sutton is a highly respected, high character, coach and individual. He would NOT go out on the line for Jamal unless he was convinced that Jamal was a good kid; the Okla State coaches feel the same way. IF, IF, everything goes as expected tomorrow, Jamal will be a Tennessee Vol and I'm sure all us Vol fans will thank the day that the little white chick's dad at Okla State did not like his daughter going with an awful Black guy so that Okla State had to cut Jamal loose.

WTF???:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

What does this have to do with anything? Hanging out with a "white lady" doesn't seem to be a bad thing even if it's a booster's daughter. There's probably much more to this story but if the coaches think it's worth the risk then it's probably ok.

Jamal was a 2 star TE recruit in 2008.

I don't get it. Why would they not sway him Trooper's way? Didn't Trooper coach him for a year? Did Trooper want him?

It's still pretty widely perceived as a bad thing. We had a player get kicked off the team a few years ago for daring to speak to a white girl.

Posted on TOS that ESPN reporting that the restraining order has been dropped. Apparently the accuser failed to show in court, so it has been dismissed.

Mosley said he plans to enroll at the University of Tennessee and will play football, but he did not know whether he would be eligible to play this season.

“Tennessee would be best for me because I was recruited there out of high school,” Mosley said. “They called my high school coach and they said they understand what happened and they will accept me there and I need to be there by Thursday to enroll and go on from there.”

The Daily O'Collegian - Mosley set to better himself, moving on

Is this a joke? That foul mouthed punk said the girl "looked older." She was 13 if memory serves and he made sexual references about her in front of her family. If that was my daughter I would have been arrested for assault and battery right then and there.
