'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Alabama transfer)

Alabama coach Nick Saban spent a lot of time with Jefferson during his trip to Tuscaloosa - and a picture emerged on social media of the two sitting together at dinner - as Saban made a hard pitch to Jefferson that he’s the type of player and person Alabama needs and wants on the roster. That level of attention definitely is playing a big role in the thinking of the four-star receiver from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School as the Crimson Tide battle Georgia, Tennessee and others for him.”

Bet Nicky gave him dessert after ;)

And he didn’t even have to bend down to do so.

Really don’t care if we get him or not. Wingo and Matthews are elite. Jefferson is just decent and local. If he was from Charlotte instead of Chattanooga then he’d be just another name along with Kopa, Dubose, etc. But because of optics we have to act like omg omg omg gotta get him!!!!

Miss me with that

I agree honestly. But I still want him lmao

I mean....you could spin that to say "if you can make it at Alabama, you'll be prepared for the pros."

Like...I don't see that as a knock on Bama. There's a reason they're good.

He was at Alabama less that a year. I don’t think they can claim a huge “development” achievement here. Gibbs was a great RB at Ga Tech but he saw they weren’t going anywhere.

Whaddyou mean, 'too?'

Saban gets personal on one TN rakroot and airbody freaks out.
I mean:

We just need to recruit those lesser ranked guys and develop them.
- Make sure they're blazing fast
- make sure you get big guys

2024 recruiting sucks 🤣🤣🤣

Boo is a Vol. Spillman's a Vol.

Jefferson is a lot better than just decent lol
I'm not disagreeing with you, but why have all the services seemingly universally agreed he's a fringe top-200 prospect? Alabama and UGA fighting Tennessee tooth and nail for him, and yet he's not highly thought of by any service. Is it the lack of football experience, former commitment to baseball, no camps? I guess we should be expecting a sizeable bump in most, if not all, of his recruiting profiles based on his suitors, but the gap in the teams chasing him and his rankings is quite strange.

He's just newer to the spotlight. Junior season was his breakout year with the new coach using him on offense

wr is the easiest and most plentiful position to recruit. ESPECIALLY in this offense. I will never worry about it while Heupel is the coach. Never.
If you don't know, Newt, grabbing the most likely first round talent is the way to demolishing Bama and GA's and OSU's negative recruiting. I mean that for WRs overall. I'm not talking about Jefferson specifically. Also, we need to be unstoppable against the best DBs in the biz. And, sure, some things will change over time. Some guys will rise and some fall in college play.

Amplification: AL, GA, and OSU are raking in recruiting and then attributing the players' draft status entirely to development. It's not true, but it works somewhat. They are also claiming falsely that our system is inferior NFL prep, which is also not true, and which the best athletes playing here will disprove.

But it's not as simple as just "look out a window" (#399) and anyone becomes magic once they get here. Even though our development and also our scheme are the best.

No one knows if Jefferson or any of these guys will be the most likely first round talent. But if anyone does its our staff and we've seen that they can DEVELOP wr talent into first round potential. All I need to know.
