'24 TN WR Amari Jefferson (Tennessee)

There has never been any doubt this was an important visit for Tennessee and Amari Jefferson this weekend. Georgia had him on campus last week, but based on conversations I’ve had, I continue to feel like this is an Alabama-Tennessee battle with the Bulldogs trailing behind a little bit right now. Alabama is swinging hard here.

Alabama leads for Jefferson right now, based on everything I’ve heard, so this weekend is a huge, huge visit for Tennessee. I still think the Vols have a chance to swing that one in their direction this weekend, but make no mistake – Alabama has caught his attention recently. It’s a big-time battle.

So are we taking three WR or just two… and if so do we take wingo and Matthew’s over Jefferson? Or is Jefferson a take regardless?

We are taking 4. Jefferson is one of the big three targets and is definitely a take
Your exactly right Jefferson is a priority just like Wingo or Mathews
AP talks like Jefferson is more important than Wingo and Mathews. I disagree, but telling just how important he is. Yes, definite take...going just as hard after him as the other two. Honestly, though, I think he's headed to Bama.

We’ll know better after this weekend, I think we land him.
Just a gut feeling. He liked Bama and UGA before us; and, while, yes, it can be done, has been done...right now, with Bama and UGA's stature, it's extremely difficult to pull one away from them, if the kid liked them first, know what I mean. UGA, Bama, Ohio St, Clemson...hard to pull recruits from those schools, whenever they’re high on them from the beginning...just the way it is...right now. We are chipping away at it...have to keep winning on the field to fully catch up; yet, Heupel won a battle very similar last year, so...and, I trust that dude completely at this point.

Hope you're right!

I think the reason he says that is maybe the instate effect and that Jefferson is right down the road so to speak. I think it’s the same thing with Macintyre. Knight is elite as well. But it’s not often that a player of GMacs caliber comes out of the state. So getting him is a priority.

Jefferson is much better than many on here want to give him credit for because he’s not Wingo or Matthews but he’s a top tier athlete and once he devotes himself fully to football his potential may be higher than those two.

Oh, yeah, that's a huge part of it, along with their talent. Don't get me wrong, I want to land our state's best, of course; but, I have never fretted if we didn't, ESPECIALLY if we land somebody better from somewhere else. Actually, I hate losing better talent from out of state than instate. I guess that I'm of the opinion that if you come from the Volunteer State, and don't want to be a Volunteer...

Yeah I am not huge into the we have to land the instate guys. I think we get Jefferson in the end. At least I hope we do. But it’s not the end of the world if we don’t. I agree with you if he really doesn’t want to be here, then I would just rather him eliminate us all together you know? That way at least the staff would know and shift their focus elsewhere.

Jefferson is an important recruit. I don’t think he’s as talented as Mathews or Wingo at this point, but he would do big things in our offense. But the reason he is crucial is he’s an instate kid we want. We need to really be able to land any in state kids we really want with ease going forward.
