'25 TN WR Cameron Sparks

Actually selling him on being the next Bru right now. Pope is his main recruiter.
Sparks, himself, said they see him as a Cordarrelle Patterson type player. So I'd imagine he has visions of a lot of sweeps, perhaps some direct snaps, as well as primarily running routes (probably similar to Bru in that regard).

A more recent comp might be Seldon or a collegiate version of Deebo Samuel.

That is still not a flex TE as some are suggesting. There are also no examples of a C. Patterson type player in this offense. Otis Anderson at UCF is the closest thing Heupel has used in this capacity and he was 5'11" 175lbs.

I never threw support in favor of those suggesting he was a flex TE. I was just cutting thru the speculation, both yours and others, and giving you what he said straight from the horse's mouth.

“The way they reach out,” Sparks said of. “We talk on the phone a lot. They get up to my school everytime they can. Coach Pope was down in December, and he will be back down again soon. I can just tell that I am a priority for them in this cycle. They have let me know more throughout about how they can use me in their system.” “They basically say that my production at Tennessee would be similar to my production at Baylor,” Sparks said of this. “I would roam the field and lineup at running back, receiver, and really play anything in their offense. Kind of how Tennessee used Cordarrelle Patterson in the past. That is pretty cool to hear.”

Just because there has not been a player utilized like CP in this offense before doesn't mean it can't happen in the future with the right guy. I doubt Pope and Heupel just conjured that up out of thin air as a selling point. You can't really hope to lie to kids in recruiting anymore now that they can transfer at any time. You better be upfront and honest and stick to your word or all your work to woo a kid can be gone in a flash.

We don't know if they told him CP from that quote. We just know that he used CP as an example in that interview. So, there should be no assumption of the coaches potentially lying to him. Like I said, Huepel has used a player in that capacity but unless you're a college football junkie or UCF fan, you'd have no clue who Otis Anderson is.

Well, considering Sparks was maybe 5 years old when CP played at UT, I doubt he pulled that example out of thin air on his own. I don't think it's really taking a great deal of artistic license to assume that as part of that quote from him, that he's been told that by the coaching staff as an example of someone they see him profiling like.

It could have come from the staff OR it wouldn't be much of a stretch for it to have come from a high school coach, trainer, or Vol fan. He's an in state kid from Chattanooga. Same pitch that was given to Cam Seldon with the exception of the mention of CP. CP is still very relevant because he's still in the NFL.

While that's possible, I'm just saying there are plenty of context clues within that statement that would reasonably indicate it came from Pope. No matter.

Just watched his film from last season.

Yeah heś def a WR. Physical and good down field speed. If his QB could actually throw he would have had even more production.

Has a little Bru in him for sure.

Class of 25 looks pretty good in state this year
TN really starting to produce a solid amount of talent from 2024 on. Going to be nice to be able to get a couple more in state guys every year. (Yes Ik you take best available but when you have more blue chip talent in state that gives you a natural advantage with more recruits)
