TN WR Shamar Porter (Kensucky transfer)

Take the guy who committed first. These mid state guys need to tell Ky they decide when they commit. Hell, Ky ain’t filling up anytime soon

You can but spurning a bona-fide 4* is stupid and makes getting the 5* instate that much harder. Make room if you got it.
Not sure about that.... or in the end the importance of it.

This kid had an opportunity to give UT a real shot and chose UK. I can't explain why. But he made a choice. If I were recruiting for UT, any future instate recruit that I wanted would know that we gave Porter a fair shot and he chose to not only commit to UK but commit early and try to influence other UT targets to UK. Most kids will understand that.

But championships aren't going to be built recruiting TN right now. Maybe in the future... but not now. TN has about 10 4/5* players per year. This year there are 9. GA has 32 this year and K'ville is very convenient to most of those players. FL has an amazing 71 4/5* players this year. CA has 24 this year but often has more than 30. Texas has 58.

Championship building recruiting classes will depend on good pipelines into talent producing states. I'm not dismissing the necessity to get where the Vols get whoever they want in state... but whatever they miss in state can be replaced out of state. The opposite is not usually true.

Just like we let Tyre West live with his UGA decision... If a talented player that the staff wants is interested in flipping, you pursue lol

I feel West will make a bigger impact over his career than Porter.

But if I'm wrong it wouldn't be the first time..or the last. Lol

I didn't say not to recruit nationwide.. you still need to lock down the state and take your pick of the litter from your home state. Every championship program does it. That being said, I'm also not insinuating placing a premium for Shamar over a Tate... Adults being spiteful to an 18yo for a decision made a year out of signing is stupid.

I wouldn't call it spite. He made a decision that it looks like he will have to live with. If he finds a slot with UT then great. If not, I hope he finds a better gig than UK.

No I didn't if he did. He still has Ensworth in his IG and Twitter bios. He was at Lipscomb Academy as a freshman. Did he transfer back? I know his former WR teammate at Ensworth (Jacob Page) just left for Blackman tho

He's listed on the roster for 22-23 Roster on MaxPreps for LA wearing #26.

Unless it's another Shamar Porter of similar heights and weight in the same class.

He did wear 26 his freshman year at LA I think
MaxPreps updates their rosters every season. You can go back and actually see who was and who no longer is on the current teams.
They've gotten way better at it.

If they did get him back... then that's lights out! He, Sherrill, Spillman along with that salty defense and is going to be a problem for Milton, GA and Thompson, AL.
