TN WR Shamar Porter (Kensucky transfer)

Per AP on todays podcast -

Kodi Burns was never that interested in Porter. Heupel has been. It’ll be interested if we pick up our efforts to recruit him now. There are rumors he’s looking around. (He committed before Liam Coen left UK).

Interesting Heupel didn’t overrule Burns if he liked the kid. Normally HC makes the call but maybe he believes in everyone being on same page and position coach believing in who he will be coaching.

There are different leadership styles but most good leaders will truly respect the input of their subordinate leaders. Heupel may fail as a coach. Circumstances may overwhelm him. Recruiting could be his downfall. But IMO he is a very solid leader and understands how to build a good culture.

Yep. You’re right.
Hurd would have been a two star if he lived in those states…….
Actually, probably not even rated because he would have never made the team. smh….
Saban never gave up all the way to his signing with us. All after camping at Bama. He was the first recruit that Saban really wanted to end up with us imo. That’s why Bamawriter and other Gumps on here were extra salty over his career.

Tbf he wasn't at the time and recruiting changes all the time. I'm glad we took him because I definitely want Edwin and Nate is solid too

You posted that 5 weeks ago. What has Nate done these past five weeks of an offseason that suddenly made him a take in your opinion? Or could it be that nothing changed and the staff considered him a take the whole time?

Less than a month ago, AP shifted on him too. On January 28th, AP said:
TN isn’t heavily on Nathan imo

On February 10th, he said:
think TN has reevaluated Nate with Combo deal with Edwin.

Unless you can't for some reason... find a new boss. If he/she is older than 30 change is unlikely. Once something "works" for someone... it takes a lot to get them to see better options.

Yeah. People over 30 have lost the capacity to learn new things.
