I don't have the words or the patience to explain how incredibly stupid it is to say that Tyler Bray didn't prove anything in his time at UT, so I'll just let the stats speak for themselves.
Keeping in mind that he didn't start for half of the 2010 season, was hurt for a large percentage of 2011 and isn't coming back for his senior year, here are Tyler Bray's stats on Tennessee's all-time career lists:
4th in touchdowns
4th in passing yards
5th in completions
4th in attempts
He would more than likely own all of these records if he were to return.
Among active QBs in the NCAA:
6th in passing yards per game
6th in passing touchdowns
6th in total total offense per play
8th in career passing touchdowns
10th in total passing yards
13th in total offense per game
15th in passing efficiency
Still keeping in mind his injury and that he won't play his senior year, some SEC statistics:
7th most TD passes in a season in SEC history
11th in single season passing yards in SEC history
Most 300 yard games among active SEC QBs
2nd most single-game passing yards in SEC history, 14 yards short of the record
4 career 400 yard games, only the second Vol to achieve such a feat
2 games with 5 TD passes, 10 games with 4 TD passes, 3 or more touchdowns in 13 games
His 2012 Stats: Tyler finished the year with a 146.25 passer rating, 3,612 yards (301 per game), 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions
But here's the most telling statistic of all: In his game against Troy, Tyler threw for 5 touchdowns and 530 yards a TN record and the 2nd most in SEC history and we still nearly lost the freaking game!
Do you know why we almost lost that game? I will tell you the secret that the rest of the country and all of the ESPN-Hates-US experts already knew: because our team sucked. Because, outside of our offense, which Tyler Bray commanded, which was excellent all year long, we were a bottom-feeder team in the SEC.
Do you know what a team with a great quarterback and one of the statistically worst defenses in the NCAA looks like? The 2012 Tennessee Volunteers.
The games we lost in 2012 were not a testament to Tyler Bray's abilities or leadership. That we somehow managed to win the games we did despite having the worst defense in Tennessee history are a testament to Tyler Bray's abilities and leadership.
