For those of us that don't, or can't, keep up with everything in recruiting, what BIG surprises do you think or expect us to see this early recruiting signing?

I hope we get some BIG signings on both our O and D lines since we so badly need that.

Please give us a little info about the prospective recruit, Height, weight, position and anything else you believe that we uninformed might find interesting.

THANKS in advance to our VN recruiting experts for helping the rest of us catch up on what we might hope to look forward to!

Pruitt has very specific criteria. It's really fascinating. All of the players we recruit are 6'8", 280lbs and run 4.44 forties. Each one benches 425 lbs, and can throw the football over that mountain. They are all recruited as Athletes, and then Pruitt decides what position to place them at alphabetically, using their middle names.

I know it's strange, but it clearly worked at Alabama, so you just gotta trust the process.

not to be a dick.

but every player thread has a breif bio with all the measurables and links to their rivals/247 pages. and genearlly you can read the last page or two of their threads to get the most current info, or updates from any media/insiders.

if the player thread hasn't been posted in several days, then there's probably not anything "new" going on.

stickied threads have current commit lists and some prospect info, wiht links to each players thread.

and there's a thread about who's visiting this weekend, with links to each players thread.

"not to be a dick" but I am gonna be one anyway......that is exactly how your post reads. no need for that message.

I believe what the OP is saying is that the recruiting threads for each player are huge and those of us who do not follow are usually to busy to sit for hours and read through 32 pages of comments that most are smartass or insulting to others. I think he was looking for just a quick thought about the players those of you who follow recruiting think we will sign.

I posted this on our regular football forum because I wanted all VN members to get a quick run down on the thoughts of you recruiting experts at this point.

I'm sad it was moved here where so many others won't see this and where you experts just want to bash me for trying to do something good rather than to start another dumb OC search thread.

Many in the regular FF don't come here and it's not easy to keep up with all the info posted here by you folks that keep up with recruiting almost daily.

Sorry to have waisted your time while trying to do something positive for all VN members.

Just delete this thread because it's not going to help anyone here in the recruiting forum anyway.

i think i gave you a pretty quick "how to" so you dont' have to go thru any of that.

but to your point, why should i or anyone else here, take our time to recap every thread for htose of you that can't/don't wan't to?

is your time that much more valuable than mine or anyone else's?

the folks that create those threads, do so for the ease of the readers. there's zero reason they should be asked to "recap them" for you cause you dn't have time, but they should do it again?

ok, i'm a dick. i can live with that.

It would have been easier just to answer him, what big surprises do the experts think? I’m no expert, but Crouch and Marshall are big on my list. It would be great if O Pappoe pulled a fast one on the barn.
I don’t think Wright / Gray would be a surprise, but still huge needs.

Crystal ball update needs to be wrong on most of those. TN needs virtually all of them to start moving up in the world, or at least the conference.

Here's my thoughts.....

1.OL commit list looks very solid. If we get Wright (which many think we lead for), then it is perhaps the best in the country or one of the best. Filled a big need position. Have 2 good TE prospects committed also.

2. RB list will be fine considering what we have returning. All signs point to Gray signing with us and he will be a very good back. Not the big bruiser type that CJP usually wants. Cain from IMG coming in this week is a good back but realistically a long shot.

3. DL is where I think our class is the weakest given our graduating class. Bringing in a couple of JUCO guys that look pretty good and should help immediately but the lack of younger players concern me. Cox by his own admission is looking like he will stick to his commitment and honestly he looks better than I thought.

4. LB class at this point is also weak. The Pappoe news is disappointing, but if we get Russell and Brown they look like good athletes players that are mostly unheralded. Lakia Henry is a JuCo player that hopefully sticks. Marshall, Henry To, and Crouch have the star rating behind them but look to be long shots.

5. DB recruiting looks pretty darn good to me. Harris, Tank, Beasley, Burrell, and Fields look like players. Beasley and Harris may make their way to offensive side of the ball at RB and Wr depending on needs. Harris is a playmaker.

6. QB and WR with Maurer and Keyton, while low numbers here both guys have potential to be game changers for us (Keyton especially next year). We are still swinging for a couple more WRs that seem to be longer shots but possible.

I'm no expert, and I probably left a bunch out but this is the best I could come up with off the top of my head. To the posters above that some may think came off as rude I think their advice is sound. Find the recruit that has commit by their name and click the first page of the thread. Good quick info there.

Edit: forgot Roman Harrison. Not sure if he will stand up outside or have his hand in the dirt, but he may be commit that I'm most excited about. Kid is a ball player. Played out of position in HS, but just balls out regardless.

After this coaching search, do you really think Volnation has an expert? :)

Yes. Exactly. That is my complaint about the current format. You can get a bio of the recruit. You might also occasionally find the current status of the recruit if you read through the last 5 pages. You can also go to a thread to see who has committed. There is also a thread about who is visiting soon. You can also get an occasional tidbit in the "Recruiting Forum Football Talk" thread...but you have to go to at least 5 places to get that...and you might still not get what you are looking for...I like threads like this one, that might give you the lowdown on what is actually going on out there. Who is not only visiting, but also is thinking about actually committing, etc. What are all the angles? Is one player a "take" over the others? What recruit would we let visit, just so we can get the big fish to also visit? What QB recruit is coming, so that a WR will come and commit? I think that is what this site is missing.

There are a thousand different ways you could have said that without it becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. You came off exactly as a condescending.......... Not everyone has the same level of understanding/commitment.

I honestly don't think that was his intent. As I said in my post above depending on the information that is wanted the actual player thread may be the quickest way to obtain it ( at least for the committed players). I keep up with this stuff fairly well and find my self frequently clicking on the player thread and going back to the original bio page to look at game video.

or, you could just take it at face value. i know how it was going to sound, hence my preface to the statement.

i realize not everone comes in to the RF and may not keep up like some of us do.

so, not to be a dick, but instead of someone taking their time out to give you a recap of all that information you want, here's how the threads work so you can peruse and find info yourself, easier than you may have thought previously.

if that makes me condescending or a dick, i'm ok with that.

Primarily you could have pointed out where to find the information and leave out the rest of the junk. Not saying you had to give the information, just do it without the rest of the attitude. Just stating "here is where to find the information" without essentially saying "you are an idiot for not knowing this" makes a huge difference in how it is perceived. Not PC, just common courtesy.
