To Protect and to Serve II

So instead of those neighbors offering to help the mother, they called the police.

Both the neighbors and police here are scumbags.
I've said it before, but a lot of these police encounters are unnecessarily brought on by civilians. I guess I should retroactively have my parents arrested since we stayed in the house by ourselves at 11 or 12.

I was babysitting when I was 12. He was 9 months old and we never had any issues. They need to stop this bs persecution of people doing normal things.
Wtf did the neighbors call the cops? Seems like this story is missing some details.

Oh the horror
I agree that this isn’t the same as a parent being arrested because their child is neglected and wandering while they are on drugs which is the frequent use of these arrests normally. Sounds like the DA is the issue here wanting to “teach her a lesson”.

Just curious, I didn't read the article but why are the police scumbags? Did they follow the law or do something contrary to it?

That's what they almost always do when it is convenient for them. But very rarely in a situation like this do they show discernment or common sense.

I would have to see what the statutes there say. In some cases blame is placed on them when they are just following the protocols dictated to them. That's why I asked the question.

Yeah. That is what I'm saying. I'm also saying that they have discretion to follow those directives. Every police encounter doesn't have to end in an arrest. They could have resolved this easily without incident if they wanted to.

In some cases officers do not have that discretion. I don't know if that's the case here or not though.

I think as a single mom of 4 kids she’s got her hands full and doesn’t need a lesson in court.
