Yeah, I don't want an old guy on the downside of his career. Give me someone who could coach us for 10 years. Not some guy who is going to be ready to pull a Jerry Green and just mail it in for the retirement package in a few years.
Some people have skewed memories of these coaches. Tubberville was a fine coach at Auburn and Ole Miss. He won a national championship and had other successful years. The thing about his teams that is still true today, they seemed to always steal some wins in big games. I'd love to steal a win from Spurrier or an overconfident Muschamp or even Saban.
Tubberville isn't a homerun hire like Gruden, but we could do A LOT worse. I wouldn't be disappointed to see Tubbs on the sideline.
