Toomer's Corner Poisoned

It's means you need to get out of Hick county and travel a little bit.

I sat in a 2400 yr old olive tree on a trip to Greece. Americans have no idea what "old" is.

Old is all relative...

I couldn't even type that with a straight face. Having traveled around as well, it is amazing to see areas that are truly "old", but it is quite expensive to do so. I wish everyone had the means to do it, many amazing sites to see out there.

Your argument boils down to:

It doesn't matter that a 130 year old, historic oak tree was poisoned. There is a 2,400 year old tree in Greece.

Cool story.

School traditions should be left alone no matter how you feel about that school. Just crazy, but the actions of one crazy person doesn't speak for a whole fanbase.

Now I agree with you on that

Rolling trees in Toomer's Corner is not a 130 yr old tradition. Does anyone honestly believe that they planted some oak trees 130 years ago and while someone is watering the new saplings a bunch of students roll them? It's not a "tradition". The trees have more value imo than that "tradition".

Hey, it's cool if I go blow up some guy's Ford. There are Ferrari's in Italy.

My point is that you're so narrow minded you think 130 years is "historic".

So the fact that North America is generally newer growth than Europe makes it fine to poison the trees at Toomers Corner?
You are an imbicile. Solid supporting case for Roe v. Wade

You seem to be the imbecile at the moment. I never stated that it wasn't wrong but its pretty idiotic to get up on arms over some stupid trees and a make believe "tradition" that in reality has only been since the early eighties. Especially Tennessee fans! We're supposed to all be laughing in unison at that anus of a state and all the inbreeders that call it home.

The next story we get in this inevitably string of idiocy will be an AU fan/idiot who got the crap beaten out of him by a security guard in Tuscaloosa.

Will I be a terrible person if I find that funny in a totally non-tragic way?

So what makes a tradition in your opinion? 30 or so years would seem to qualify. Its not as old as, say, celebrating Guy Fawkes day, or the Popes Easter Mass, but being an American I'm not qualified to judge time relatively.

The Earth is what, 4 billion years old? And you think 2,400 years is old? You uneducated goon, you.

Well, if he thinks that anyone who cares about more than what these tree huggers will do to UA is a damn liberal, there is a good chance that he believes that the 2400 year old tree was around at about the same time man walked with dinosaurs on this "Young Earth."

Beer barrel with KY was an older tradition but "Tennessee" fans seem to be more infuriated over redneck Auburn losing some trees.

Baldcypress in Florida = 2,000 years old

Giant Sequoias in California = 3,000+ years old

Bristlecone Pine in Asia = 4,500 years old

Isn't the point that no matter how old the trees are, they won't be replaced anytime soon? The olive tree still has a lot of growing to do.

I think that tree got cut down IIRC. But thanks! That further proves my point that a 130 year old tree is not that old.

True......You are right. A 130 year old tree, compared to your greek tree, isn't that old. However you made the point that Americans don't know what old is by referring to a 2,400 year old tree. However we have an older tree. So Americans do know their "old" trees. As to the one I referenced, if it has been cut down we have the third oldest still.

this thread has gone straight to hell.

y'all managed to turn a story about a moron committing an act of destroying something precious to a community and turned into a pissing contest about the age of trees in various locations.

Someone attempted to draw an AU logo into the grass on our quad using pesticide a couple of years back. But, yes, the trees are a much bigger deal and are much harder to replace.

Probably sure it was an herbicide if true. From the posts Ive seen of you.

You = Summers Eve.

So explain away, by your research, why so many people that you're defending think that 130 yrs is old. Are you claiming that they are not American since Americans know old?
