I'm not a Texas fan?

No, I meant that it's odd someone as "wishy washy" on the Vols as Milo has been elevated to such a high possition on a Vol message board. Almost as silly as having a Florida fan a mod at a Tennessee board. I realize that this sounds like I'm taking shots, but that's not my intent, just making an observation and voicing my opinion. Milo and (any Gator fan that may be a mod on a TN site, "NCGB") are both good posters and assets to their boards, just not whom I would want "representing" the "voice" of my Tennessee message board.

Maybe that's why I don't run one. :dlol:

Wishy washy? I'm gonna set the record straight here. I am not wishy washy whatsoever.

I was raised watching three teams; Texas, Ohio and Oregon State. I was born and lived as a young child in Dallas, and we watched Texas and have very strong family roots in Ohio, the heart of Buckeye country. But I also took a liking to watching the Beavers when I was young and moved here. It's just who I watched. I also have personal family ties to Purde and Harvard.

No, I wasn't born a Vols fan. So what? I wasn't even extremely familiar with the program before 2004. But when my boy Ainge went to UTK, representing my hometown of Hillsboro, I started watching. And you know what? I took a liking to you guys. The posters here were all friendly. LIO and even NCGatorBait, the resident Croc. Volfreak was cordial as always. GAVol is always hilarious. OWB and I came on at about the same time and have had at it in fun. I love this place, and I love watching Tennessee Volunteers football. It went from a matter of supporting for repping my hometown, into true fanship.

But you know what? I do have ties to other programs that I cherish. Oregon State. Texas. Ohio State. Purdue. Does that make me any less deserving to be a Vols fan? I don't think so. You can if you want. But I came on here, support the Vols and freak saw fit to appoint me as a moderator. I thank him for the great opportunity, even though this board can be a hassle sometimes. I enjoy doing it, I enjoy talking football and I enjoy ribbing (PacMan :eek:lol:).

I have no ill will towards anybody that doesn't deserve it, even if they are fans of Michigan, Bama, Florida or Miami. :peace:

Don't misunderstand me. It's not that I don't think you "deserve" to be a Vol fan, or even a mod here. It's just as a "diehard", it's hard for me to accept rivals that flame, and even Vol fans that aren't as diehard as myself. It's one of my faults, but one I have to work through and others have to accept if they are going to get along with me at all.

Beltway, I am not sure what this has to do with anything. Milo has been a great asset to this board. He spends a lot of time here and he has a vast knowledge of college football. It's nice to get a perspective from someone on the other side of the country (who also happened to go to HS with Erik Ainge). As you probably know there is a lot more to moderating that can't be handled by just being a diehard fan. I know many diehard fans who think they know everything about everything, but that's not necesarily qualification to be a moderator. Fortunately for me this place is not a decmocracy, it's a dictatorship.

Back on topic----I doubt posters come to the Volboard section of the site to read about who are mods and why.

:peace2: :freak:

In Lexington, KY, I see about as many Longhorn hats as I see Tennessee Power T stickers on vehicles.

Now that's a little shocking. I know Texas sells a ridiculous amount of merch, but that happening that close to Knoxville is pretty incredible.

I have to admit that all this Texas talk is making me a little sick. I will admit though that I have played with them a couple times on NCAA just to be Vince Young. He can motor.

Playing with him is like playing with Vick on Madden. He is unstoppable.

If Texas is going to win, their D needs to step up. The loss of Johnson is HUGE. If they can get another LB'er to fill his shoes, they should be fine. They also need a RB that can produce adequate numbers, doesnt have to be all-big12, but he needs to be in the 800-1200 range. With that, and a little better passing numbers, the horns have the schedule and talent to go undefeated, I dont think they will, but its certainly a possibility.

Ohio State and Oklahoma are obviously the two to worry about. And Texas' defense is as solid as any in the country.

I thought I was pretty clear that milo was an asset.

I would argue though that the people that would complain about coming to the Vols section and "having" to read about a mod, would have JUST as much reason to complain about having to read about Texas, or any other school, or Madden.

As the smartest man that ever attended Alabama once said, "That's all I've got to say about that."

On with the top 10 revenue schools!

You did clearly say he was an asset but asked why he was promoted to such a high position on a Tennessee message board..so I was just explaining it. See, now you have me back off topic :p . At least Madden and Texas have to do with football. Although, like I said before, all this Texas talk is making me somewhat sick. They are wanna be pretenders....Sorry milo. :peace2:

Late as usual:

Not only would Texas not be Texas without the Volunteers, but Alabama wouldn't be Alabama.

The name "volunteers" for the state of Tennessee also derives from the contingent sent in to Northern Alabama to battle the Creek Indians. I believe this was an Andy Jackson contingent (man that guy liked to fight!).

Anyway, "volunteers" from the great state of Tennessee gave their lives to protect settlers in Alabama.

What thanks do we get? Tommy Gallion :shakehead: :laugh1:
