Top 10 vols of all time

Did. Anyone ever see Howard Wood play? I think he at least needs to be mentioned .

Howard Wood was my favorite Vol basketball player as a kid. Very good. Not in the top 10.

Michael Brooks was good too. I assume he's probably spent the last 30 years in a haze of depression, wondering how different his life would have been if the 3 point line had existed when he played.

I would agree if that was actually all Tobias did. However, he continues to be pivotal in the growth of Tennessee basketball and he represents the orange better than we could've asked. Having a guy in the league do what he's doing is huge for Tennessee, and he was a big part in landing Stokes and Hubbs.

I understand your point and agree with what you are saying. But, subject of the original post was the "top 10 players" and not how much they have represented or contributed afterwards for the program. Playing one year as a freshman just doesn't cut it for me. I would certainly have him in my all time freshman team...probably top 5 in that category.

It depends then on how each person defines "top 10 player". What is the criteria? Is it limited to simply stats? Do they have to of played 4 years to qualify? Everyone views these types of questions differently...with that said, I have no issue with people not including Tobias. I started watching UT basketball around 2003, so my options are a bit limited unfortunately.

Gotta stick Ron Widby, A.W. Davis, Tom Boerwinkle, and Mike Edwards in there somewhere. Maybe pre-three point shot era category or something.

I'm a little too young to have a list of the greats since I haven't seen them play, but regardless of his mental aspects - Scotty Hopson would be on my list. He was so fun to watch when he was on his game.

When he was on he could take over a game and look like a all American, that's why it was so frustrating when he would suck

There are two types of posters in this thread:

1. The people answering the question seriously

2. Older posters trying to come up with the oldest and most obscure lineup possible

Calling Vegas Davis obscure is fighting words.......IMO.

Since I seem to be somewhere between the students and the blue hairs, I will only mention this... any list without Dyron Nix is disqualified. The stats don't seem particularly overwhelming, but the case could be made that he was the best player in the SEC for 2 years. The guy had a great inside game with a motor that didn't quit. Put him up at least as the most under rated. Great ball player.
