Howard Wood was my favorite Vol basketball player as a kid. Very good. Not in the top 10.
Michael Brooks was good too. I assume he's probably spent the last 30 years in a haze of depression, wondering how different his life would have been if the 3 point line had existed when he played.
Were you at the LSU/UT game when they had Chris Jackson and Shaq?

1. Bernard King - Best Ever
2. Ernie Grunfeld - Second Best
3. Lofton - Money!
4. Michael Brooks - As good as Lofton, no 3's back then
5. Jimmy England - No 3's, but could hit a mile away
6. McRae - Gonna go down as one of the best
7. Tony White - Not very tall, but no one could stop him when he got hot
8. Reggie Johnson - Only one I know that could hit over 60% consistently
9. Bert Bertelkamp - unheralded, but could just play basketball
10. Gary Carter - see number 9
11. JaJuan Smith, Dane Bradshaw, Johnny Darden (tie)
There are two types of posters in this thread:
1. The people answering the question seriously
2. Older posters trying to come up with the oldest and most obscure lineup possible
But seriously, any list without King is disqualified.
You have a good list, but Tobias Harris should not be on there. He played one season and averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. I understand the talent and that he was only a freshman, but there are many more deserving on the Vols list. Maybe Reggie Johnson, Garry Carter, Jimmy England, Mike Edwards, Tom Boerwinkle, Bill Justice, etc.
Glad someone remembers UT roundball before the three point shot. England, Edwards, Boerwinkle certainly, and Justice would all at least be candidates for the top ten. I would add Mike Jackson. If the three pointer had been around back then, it would have been the Ernie, Bernie, and Mikie show and maybe a national championship.
