I have a hard time believing he will come in and beat out a 2yr starter. Maybe it will happen but could also be a little bias in the statement

I believe your right there. Stone will start at center for the next three years.

We have 7 ships left by my count (and yes I assume Loften doesn't make it). I think it ends up something like this...

Cam Clear
Ant Richardson
Marcus Jackson
Jay Rome
Mike Bellamy
Gabe Wright
El Superbeasto (the 5* mystery man)

And if by chance we get a surprise commitment from Grant or Dawson we politely ask DY to grayshirt.

I think we will all be happy with that finish

Mack Truck is an EE and already enrolled and as result will get on the S&C program early but will almost definitely redshirt. My guess is that he starts as a RS Frosh. Center is not Stone's future position IMVHO and being left handed doesn't help him.

I am pretty sure that I saw Hiestand or Chaney allude to the his snapping technique being a temporary fix. I think that following the season, he is going to have a lot of reps with the normal right hand technique.

Those are not happening & there is no mystery 5*.

When crowder starts next season will there be apologies in this thread?

Are these the same people who said Stone would redshirt? That Bray would redshirt?

This staff has enough depth to redshirt no one who can contribute immediately. Hood needed to add weight badly, but we even burned Milton this year. Crowder is our future center. EE and will be great at the job from the start. Not sure why that is so hard for people here to understand.

And what if Stone learns in the off season to snap with his right hand (like the coaches said he will)? You still just assume a freshman is going to come in and beat out Stone. I'm not saying he won't...but to guarantee it right now is absurd.

When Hiestand was puttin' the close on Mack Truck, he put film of Mack up on one screen and put footage of Olin Kreutz, the pro-bowl center that he coached while with the bears on beside Mack's clips and took a lazer pointer and started pointing out one similarity after another, mostly footwork. He didn't promise him a pro-bowl career in the NFL but I would say UT is set at the center position for years with Stone AND Crowder.

Who the hell said Bray would redshirt? We supposed to go all year with one QB behind our patchwork OL?

I think we should all want Crowder to redshirt. Have you noticed our Strength Coach? He is by far the best in the Country. 1 extra year (because of being red shirted) could be the difference between a Conference Champion and a National Champion team!

This site is not searchable but "Bray redshirt" would return lots of results if it was.

I like Stone. I want him starting on the OL.

Last year I massively underestimated how thin we were. I will not do that again.

Mack is not a skinny and weak kid and he is an EE. He will be plenty strong, plenty smart and plenty ready to give Hiestand a true center which will make the coach and even Stone very happy.

Sure. Just like there were scores of people demanding we hire Turner Gil.

Let's not count out Pope either. Doesn't he have one more year? I don't think he'll stay healthy, but he started out the year looking pretty good.

You may be right but one can hope. You see any chance with Dawson or Grant?

No shot at all with Grant.

We may have an outside shot with Dawson. He has already visited once and we will probably get him on campus 2 more times before NSD. He will be here for the Kentucky game on an unofficial.

Not trying to jump on either side here, but if Mack Crowder is good enough to play center and we need another gaurd, then why not move Stone back to gaurd. I could see the offensive line next year of Thomas, Schofield, Crowder, Stone, James... but I also could see Thomas, Fulton, Stone, Schofield, James... I could also see James, Stone, Crowder, Fulton, Richardson... I could also see James, Fulton, Stone, Schofield, Richardson... I could also see.... Get my point?

There were people who wanted Gil. That was proven as more than one of them was quoted.

I do not have the time or energy to prove that people wanted Bray redshirted but either you are being disingenuous or you did not read much on here if you did not hear people before the season wanting Simms to be the QB all year and Bray to redshirt.

I'm sure there were. There were people claiming we'd win national championships every year from 2005-2009. Acting like those posters represent some huge portion of VN and only the enlightened expected differently is absurd.

Before Stone moved over to center, I was 99% sure Crowder would be thrown in at center.

Now, with Stone playing well, I don't think Crowder starts unless injuries pile up and Stone slides over to another position.

I second that. Why are you taking it like its a negative against Crowder? I felt very confident that Crowder would start at center before the staff moved Stone. Now the coaches are raving about how good Stone could be as a center in the future. What is THAT so hard for you to understand?

BTW...I quoted justin's message but it is obvious my post is directed at MikeHamiltonFan. I know how easily posters get confused sometimes.

Because Schofield and Fulton will be starting at guard. And both will be very good guards next year.

Just MHF he's right and he goes away.
