Franco (see
Franco Harris - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) was a rookie with the Steelers in '72, so he didn't play in that second UT-PSU game. 'tis amazing that we convinced the Nittany Lions to visit us in back-to-back seasons without it being part of a home-and-away series. As john Ward pointed out, however, the '72 game was the first played under the lights at Neyland, so that was a big selling point back then for ABC.
If you were there for the '71 game, you saw one of the great individual single-game performance by a defensive/special teams player. On "Majors Family Day," Bobby Majors made his family and the Big Orange Nation proud, returning two punts for 82 yards, one for a score, and two kickoffs for 113 yards. See
