Top 25 Games for Thursday Dec 1

Unfortunately, Texas does not stand a chance against UCONN. They will lose by 30. South Carolina will lose to UCONN by 20. The LVs would lose by 40 if they played UCONN. I am realistic and accepting the current state of WCBB.

I think SC is good enough to beat them. Texas will be an interesting matchup because they have a different kind of advantage in the post (a high post player with size who can attack off the dribble). I don't see either game being blowouts.

Unless Tennessee gets better, I can see them getting a beatdown like UConn did to DePaul last night. 40 points would probably be generous. I'm hoping they can turn things around and play better against Baylor.

TN over the last couple of years seems to play to the competition a lot - if the team is weak they sometimes don't even show up, and then they'll play a high ranked team and surprise everyone. I could see them rising to the challenge against Baylor and making a serious game of it - not sure they win, but I think you'll see a different level of play than against PSU or VaTech

The only win Holly has against a Top 8 team during her tenure at Tennessee was when they beat SC before A'ja Wilson arrived. Every other game against the better teams have resulted in Tennessee playing ugly, ugly basketball and often playing scared. I haven't seen any reason to think differently this season; maybe Sunday will be it. I'm just hoping that it's not too much of a blowout.

Me tooooooo !!!!! ^^^^ Sad that we are not talking about the likelihood of a win rather than being on the wrong end of a blowout.....that says a lot about the state of this program.I just saw the Jeff Walz presser after his loss to Maryland last nite.....gosh it was impressive.I believe sincerely that if he were to be brought in to Coach the Lady Vols tomorrow that he would either take LV's to Final Four or run off every player on the squad and start over by recruiting a new squad for 2018.

Not true. Last year the Lady Vols beat #7 Oregon State on the road and beat #2 seed (presumably top 8?) Arizona State on the road during the NCAA tournament.

In 2014-15, the Lady Vols beat #7 Stanford at home 59-40.

There may be other examples but those were a few that jumped out.

Wish we could gush about some Lady Vols players ....just saying.:)

Gule is right in this case. SC is impressive everywhere EXCEPT point guard with Cuevas-Moore who is looking like a bust and this freshman who can't shoot a lick. Hell Middleton and Reynolds, who are routinely destroyed here, are putting up better numbers.

If the Cocks want to win a title, they better hope for much better pg play....

I'd add the win against TX A&M in the SEC tournament last year as well - by that time, A&M was considered the higher seed and better team. The wins against Oregon State was the one I was mostly thinking of with my comment.

There are no other examples. But nice try. :lolabove:

if Reynolds was playing with Wilson and Coates, I dare say she'd be the best pg in the SEC.

Ok, sure. There are other top 10 wins, including another victory over Oregon State, the Sweet 16 win over Ohio State last year, and several against Kentucky, but Amb did say top 8.

We are now a mediocre basketball program--once premier, now pedestrian. And all of you who wear your bright orange UT sweaters and think it will get better are like Trump voters--ignoring the reality of the team we've watched for four or five years.

I forgot about the Oregon State game. That was a good win for Holly.

Even though that Stanford team was the last team to beat UConn, they weren't good. They dropped out of the top 10 by week 7 and never made it back.

Arizona State was not a Top 10 team when they lost to Tennessee. Going into the tournament, they lost their regular season final game as well as their first game in the Pac 12 tournament.

OSU was Top 10 when Tennessee beat them in the S16, but were on a downward spiral from missing their second leading scorer with a hand injury (who was playing in her second game back vs. Tennessee) and losing another starter to injury.

I disagree that Cuevas is a bust. Dawn actually digs and tries to get the best out of her players unlike holly. She is playing a two point guard system just like last year. I watched the texas game and the interview afterwards and Dawn said that Bianca played great in the first half but the matchup for texas guard that they wanted to shut down was better suited for tyasha. Bianca has always got a bad wrap because for the past two years she has been designed to come in and be a spark plug and give energy with her speed and defense. This year is a transformation year for her. Its still the beginning of the year and people are calling her a bust. She has only 5 turnovers for the first 6 or 7 games. Her percentages are usually gonna take a hit bc she is the one having to create a shot when its like 2 secs on the shot clock. I would take Bianca ANYDAY over Middleton, or reynolds. Lets hold off on calling players bust 6 games into the season.

If you're going to qualify our wins over top 10 teams, then you should be willing to qualify our losses, too (i.e. injuries we've faced in the tournament). Not saying you aren't, but many to most on here aren't.

And the player OSU lost averaged 4.6 PPG and shot 34.8% last year (comparable to say, Carter, who we lost for the E8).

Hmmm looking through your post, are you sure you're not an undercover South Carolina fan, posing as a Vol fan????? You seem to love Dawn and South Carolina, yet trash Holly....seems odd!!!

I can say that I 100% believe that Tennessee was a Final Four team in 2015 if not for the injury to Isabelle Harrison. They still could have beaten Maryland without her, but that injury really hurt them.

I don't buy it when people talk about injuries to the likes of Reynolds or Carter last year. Neither of them were good player.s, and I would take Cait Craft from OSU over either of them any day. She was a fierce competitor and meant more to her team than either of those two guards for the LVs. Tennessee had another 2 McD AAs plus another Top 50 player that could replace them with no loss in productivity.

Well since youve looked at my previous post i have stated that I do root for SEC teams and that i am a huge wbb fan. So discredit me for watching a womens basketball game and looking up a interview and stats. I actually wish we had a coach like Dawn. Holly is leading this program to mediocrity. I loved Pat but holly not so much. So if you want to accuse for cheering for SC, i guess you caught me. I follow all power 5 conferences. I sure wish we could gloat over our program.

Aaah so it matters when other teams lose starters and key players but not when Holly does. I see how you are. 😀

lol if i were a SC fan, i would not trash holly. She is actually very good for them, she is not putting up any resistance to their SEC reign. They probably want holly to stick around. I do love Dawn, great player & has turned South Carolina into a powerhouse. Holly has not done anything with the best program in wbb. oh & btw...fire holly

It's okay to be a Gamecock fan on this board. Lots of fans of other schools post all the time and add to the conversation. Not many have the audacity (synonym for cockiness) to put "Vol" in their username though...:p

This is where you betrayed that you got low grades in undercover troll school:

You call the SC guards (affectionately?) by their first names (Bianca, Tyasha), but then when you make comparison to "your" Lady Vols, you use impersonal last names (Middleton and Reynolds). :birgits_giggle:

Your troll school instructors would be mortified at these gross violations from troll protocol! :p :)
