A renovation of McKethan Stadium, home to the baseball team. The new look will feature shade structuring, five new rows of premium seating directly behind home plate, new club seating and an expanded press box, a new second-level concourse, plus refurbished and improved player amenities.
"Obviously, it's a very ambitious project and we're going to depend on our fundraising efforts to help us with it," UF athletic director Jeremy Foley said. "Really, it's a commitment to those three programs, those three coaches. The study also includes opportunities to enhance other facilities that are very important to us, but football, baseball and softball are what we've put as our highest priority right now."
Vanderbilt pitcher Hayden Stone's career ends
Vanderbilt pitcher Hayden Stone, who earned the clinching win in the 2014 national title game, has ended his career more than a year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Stone, a Columbia native, is not listed on Vanderbilts 2017 roster, recently released in anticipation of fall ball later this week. Baseball team spokesman Kyle Parkinson confirmed that Stones career is over.
Stone, who would have been a senior this season, pitched 1 2/3 innings of middle relief to beat Virginia in Game 3 of the national championship series in 2014, and he earned Freshman All-American honors that season.
But his 2015 and 2016 seasons were cut short by elbow issues. He underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2015. Then he returned in 2016, only to be sidelined again after three starts with the same injury.
Stone, a right-hander, was the 2013 TSSAA Class AAA Player of the Year at Columbia Central, where he set career school records in wins (26) and strikeouts (350).

Vanderbilt pitcher Hayden Stone's career ends
This is really sad. He was a great pitcher in HS but 26 wins and 350 Ks in high school = a lot of innings. Those all add up for issues later. This isn't even counting the travel ball innings that most high level pitchers get in summer and fall. Arm problems are getting crazy and hopefully some sanity is going to prevail among coaches AND parents soon.
You hit the nail on the head..."coaches AND parents". Unfortunately the fix may be years behind the result. I'm not a Dr, but the logic I've heard seems sound that TJ is an injury of accumulated damage over time. We may see many more seasons of the damage before it gets better. The spark of hope that needs to grow into a fire is in Little League. They count pitches with days of rest and even have lower limits for pitchers who also catch. Until that type of protection is built into tournament ball all the way through to college and pros, the drive to win, be recruited, or drafted can continue to overshadow the danger.
Why is that these arm blow outs are happening more with more protection?

Why is that these arm blow outs are happening more with more protection?
IMHO the "protection", which is minimal at best right now, has not been in place long enough to help any of the current or up coming pitchers for many more seasons.
I think OT is correct also. Spring to Summer to Fall to Showcase to Scout Teams to National / International Tournament Teams to Winter pitching coaches then minimal shutdown and start over. Its a lot to put on a growing arm. The pattern seems to be starting earlier and earlier as young talent is identified.
The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of the Most Valuable Commodity in Sports by Jeff Passan is an interesting read.
"Passan discovered a culture that struggles to prevent arm injuries and lacks the support for the changes necessary to do so. He explains that without a drastic shift in how baseball thinks about its talent, another generation of pitchers will fall prey to the same problem that vexes the current one."
