Agree. But when u say McRae is the best guy u are talking about putting points up, right? Cause stokes contributions r a lot more important when taken in context

Not just points, no. I think it was Pomeroy (or maybe it was forde?) who posted an article defending jordan mcrae as SEC player of the year. He had mentioned where in one of his past games he had accounted for 3/4 of the teams points in a half, on points, assists, and rebounds/steals that led to points.

Stokes is great at two things, scoring and rebounding.

Mcrae is elite at scoring (and arguably an elite athlete), and good or above average at several things. That's why McRae is the better college player (and also why stokes is a better NBA prospect).

This is actually backwards. McRae and Stokes will both fight an uphill battle to have a prolonged career in the NBA. Stokes will have more to overcome to be a career NBA player. McRae has some physical tools and shooting ability that will give him more opportunity to make it in the NBA. Now, both will make a career of basketball whether it is the NBA or overseas. I hope that Stokes overcomes his length and explosiveness deficiencies and has a long NBA career. I hope McRae overcomes his lack of ball-handling, passing, and defensive intensity and has a long NBA career. If you ask me to put a percentage on those things happening, I think McRae's chances are slightly higher than Stokes.

I, and many NBA guys it seems, don't think its backwards at all. Stokes has a dejuan blair type build, and its much easier to make a guy like stokes a better 15 foot/free throw shooter than it will be to get McRae to add 30 pounds and play better defense. Most NBA guys will take a player with two B+/A- abilites (in stokes case, scoring and rebounding) over someone with an A ability (McRae's scoring) and several C/B- abilities.

Now if McRae were an A+ scorer and averaged 30+ points a game, all bets are off, but he's not. He's elite at scoring, but not to a kevin durant (or even jimmer) level. But I think his athleticism is going to carry him a lot further than we think. hard to get guys with 7ft wingspans on any level. And if he can carry this team on a deep tourney run... all bets are off for either guy.

Jordy Mac has a similar game like Paul George. Not quite as tall as George (6'9"). But you can see some similarities.

on a per-possession basis, Maymon turns it over more than Stokes.

If we feed him with his back to the basket against a bigger man, it increases. Coaching is a direct correlation to assists oftentimes. Gotta put players in position to succeed. Maymon needs to be a garbage man or feed him on a mismatch. Nothing more really.

really?

every time i watch tennessee, stokes is unguardable.

the only thing that stops stokes are immediate, quality doubles of the post or tennessee on court brain farts when deciding to not get him the ball.

haven't seen anyone all year that can handle him one on one in the post.

y'all will think i am blowing smoke, but i think tennessee is a team that can make a surprise run if their head is screwed on straight. there aren't many teams that will put an individual player on the floor better than stokes.

Gator, a lot of us have been watching this for the last 2 years. McRae busted out in 12-13 as the leader in scoring for UT and has been the highest scorer on average ever since. I was wondering about Stokes up until this year whether we were ever going to see the potential or not. He could use another year. It would do him good.

Enjoy Stokes during this tourney run cause he is definitely headed to the NBA.
