Top O-Line prospect Orlando Brown commits to UT

Would now be a good time to start the 'I don't think these mid-major yahoos from the midwest will be able to recruit in the SEC' thread???

Can anyone remember a class this good this early? I like how these kids are stepping up to the plate and making that commitment now to help better focus on academics, football, and actually enjoying their senior year. With that recruiting list, can you imagine just how much mail is coming to the Brown house each and every day???

The trick is keeping them. We traditionally started out slow before Fulmer closed strong. Now, we have the Evil Closer to the south of us lurking for prey. Gonna have to stay on top of these players.

Wondering how somebody can explain how one can bounce from 3 to 4 star in a short amount of time?

This is what happens when you embrace your alumni players and show them some respect. Dooley should take notes fool.

Good question - shoulda clarified. I was talking about Nicky Satan, who has used Middle and West Tennessee as his home away from home. Butch has to flush this ogre outta our state and - maybe one day - reclaim the Alabama border states.

Shows why recruiting rankings are pretty hilarious, especially in early season.

3 Star prospect.... but offers from:

Alabama
Ark
Auburn
Cal
Clemson
Florida
FSU
UGA
Michigan
Miss
Miss St
ND
OSU
Oklahoma
Oregon
So Car
Texas
USC
Virginia
Va Tech
WV
Wisc

and a LOT more

FWIW - that's a more impressive offer list than the #2 overall prospect.

As you can see by my handle. I'm a Baltimore Ravens fan (PSL's and season ticket holder),in addition to my Vols (Blood is Orange though), My wife and I met Oralando Brown a few years back. Once he retired from the Ravens he bought a Fatburger franchise store in Columbia MD. We went to eat lunch there one day and he and his whole family were there. He was a gentle giant. I met Jr. there. He was 14 at the time and was HUGE. His dad told us he would be a better football player than him when he gets to the pro's. Really nice kid. Orlando Sr. used to drive around in a huge Rolls Royce. (I think it was the only thing he could fit in). This will end up being one of our best pick ups. The kid is not a thug. He is one of the nicest young men I've met. All them were so nice to us. It reminded me of home. (K-town). So if you happen to see this Orlando Jr. Welcome to Tennessee. Your family is our family. We are building brick by brick. And just picked up the Cinderblock. Go Vols!

He decommitted once A&M joined the SEC. If they would have stayed in the Big 12-2-2+2, we might have kept him.

A&M to the SEC had nothing to do with Santos.

He's a longhorn. Grew up a fan and jumped on a late offer when Mack was trying to finish out his class.

My bad. I thought Santos went to A&M. Texas, huh? That was stupid. Must like traveling to Lubbock, Waco, Ames, etc. instead of SEC venues. Oh well, at least we don't have to mess with him.

IIRC, lost Santos to the horns and Otha Peters(?) to Arkansas late in the same class.

Whatever floats their boats I guess. They lost interest in us and I lost interest in them.

Better days ahead!

GBO
