I didn't really see a thread on this. Who would be your top 3 quarterbacks in the NFL draft.

My top 3 in order:

1. Blaine Gabbert

2. Jake Locker

3. Christian Ponder

I think Gabbert has good value for a team who needs a quarterback in the top ten. I still believe that Locker has good value in the Mid to late first round.

Cam Newton
Ryan Mallett
Blaine Gabbert

Jake Locker will probably bust. Completion % is the most predictive stat for future NFL success and he is horribly inaccurate.

I think it is weak. While their may not be a can't miss prospect, I do think this is a fairly deep class. Andy Dalton, Ponder, and Colin Kapernick are all decent prospects. I am actually quite impressed with Kapernick.

Dalton, I don't think any (with the exception maybe being Gabbert)are worthy of a top 10 pick JMO.

Maybe... VY was a bust because of his lack of intelligence (which Cam probably shares) compounded by some clear mental instability and a plain bad work ethic.

Cam will probably run a dumbed-down playbook but he doesn't strike me as being a slacker like VY.

I'd agree with this.

Mallet is entirely dependent on what team he goes to and who is coaching him and how much his OC/HC is willing to change and meld the system around him. I don't think Mallet is the kind of guy that can thrive in any system.

Gabbert strikes me as that kind of QB.

Feels like a Vince Young..

We compare Newton to VY because VY is the only guy in the history of the NFL whose talent resembles Newton's. IMO VY's struggles have nothing to do with talent, so VY's story doesn't tell us much about what to expect from Newton.

Except that both are guys who dominated HS and college only by virtue of their athleticism in lieu of actual quarterbacking skill, both are low in the intelligence department and both have repeatedly displayed some very serious flaws in their character, which usually translates to poor work ethic.

I would use my first on a solid defensive player, and snag Dalton in the second round.
