Top WR groups in the SEC

You think that a freshman TE that has never played a college game is more valuable than our senior middle linebacker who has 324 tackles in 3 years, and is the leader of our defense?

Yes, I think wolf will have a bigger on the field impact.

Unquestioned? We have the best receiver group in the conference and maybe the country. Next year we will have the top group hands down

No we don't. We have an incredibly talented group of athletes, only 2 of which have done much of anything at this point at the SEC level, North and Pig.....neither of which caught even 500 yds worth of receptions last year. Our group has tremendous potential but their are other WR corps who are talented as well and who have proven more. Now go finish your homework before school starts.

I think it's crazy the amount of talent we have and the amount we are getting. I know we are wide receiver U no doubt but if you look at our running back depth starting next year it's absolutely insane also.
1. Jalen Hurd
2. Alvin Kamara
3. Derrell Scott
4. Rocky Reid
5. Treyvon Paulk

These backs can all ball! We might as well be RBU lol

UMMM you forgot Devrin Young!

I am excited about their blocking ability too. A more physical Croom and North on the same side could element a safety and cb on a sweep play.

SEC Network ranked the top WR groups and the Vols were his "surprise" pick at #4 -- behind UGA, Bama, and Auburn.

As he ticked off the names of our guys, he said that when we go FOUR WIDE, it will be tough for any team out there to match up with us. Lots of targets for Worley.

I would love to see us go 4 and 5 wide now and then (like we did in the 80's with Gault and company). It's a nice wrinkle

Some love finally. Can't wait to see them on the field of play. Should be a very interesting season.

GO VOLS!

Not ragging on you, but ALL of VN needs to understand this,NOTHING about this team should be based on last year.:rtfm:

Touché. The media wants to base everything off of last year.... Except the whole o-line and d-line thing.

Same thing last season. It's awesome he can catch in practice, needs to do it in games.

He is probably the best route runner on the team tho.

I agree that he is easily the best route runner, and from what I've seen in practice clips, he has really, really good hands. Yes, he struggled some in games last year, there's no doubt about it. But let's keep in mind he was only a freshman. I think he improves in that area tremendously this year. Guess we'll see.

Yes, I think wolf will have a bigger on the field impact.

If a freshmen TE (that will share snaps) has a bigger on the field impact then our senior starting all conference linebacker, we are in big trouble. Wolf better be like Jimmy Graham for that to happen.

Yes, he will be a good blocker and provide time for Lane/Hurd to find gaps. Yes, he may open up the options for WorleyBird to find somebody. But he needs to have 75 yards and a TD per game to have a comparable impact to AJ.

I don't agree with UGA or Auburn being in the top five. Murray is gone and he made the receivers better than they really were. Auburn receivers have great spend but nothing else can be seen from last year since they ran the ball over everyone.

I think there is no question - that our receiving core will be better this year. Especially the first half of the year they sucked :) But I think expecting a lot of first year players to rise us from the bottom quartile to the top receiving core in a single year is very unrealistic. We are talking about potential people - not actually ever done in a game.

If our receiving core manages to be the forth best in the SEC this year - than our coaches have done a fantastic job. To expect more is drinking some series orange cool aid.

I seriously think lining Croom up at TE occasionally and letting him run down the seem would be nasty. Can you imagine what a linebacker would feel like knowing that man is fixing to go right past you! I'm stoked go vols

Sutton, Randolph, north, maggitt, wolf, then AJ, in my opinion. And yes, that's the reason I added that I love AJ, because I knew someone would get bent out of shape as usual.

I wasn't bent out of shape about it. I was just curious to see who some of the guys were that you thought could have a big impact on our team this year. That's four solid players you through out there, and that's four I could see having a big impact this year. Me personally, I think North and Maggitt could be right there with AJ from an impact perspective with the other guys slightly behind them, but still making a positive impact.

For you and your UGA buddy who gave you that like, maybe the two of you should do your own homework and examine the fall camp reports about the receiving corps potentials and current stages of development, as well as the pass blocking of the skill guys and the ability for backs to catch and run. Stating that UT will have the top WR UNIT in the nation isn't out of touch, at all. It's rare that this blend of speed, athleticism and size have arrived when everybody else 'gets it' just as well. Some of us have done our homework, for real.:compute:

All you talk about is the past. How many times do I have to tell you. That was last year, that wasn't this year.

I think his point is you can't rate them as receivers...until they receive?...until then potential is potential. :cool2:

Lol, have you watched him play? Hands are the biggest question mark in his game.

Very fast receiver who was one of the few Vol receivers capable of getting open last year.

"I'm white. They didn't bring me here to drop passes."

I have a Georgia buddy? Who?

Take your homer glasses off and read what I wrote. We have tremendous size and talent/athletic ability at the receiver position but the majority of it resides in our newer players ....Malone, Pearson, Wharton, even the TEs. North is obviously incredible but the only thing we can judge Croom, Smith, Johnson and Jenkins on is potential.

They have great potential as a group and I'm as excited as anybody to see what they're gonna do, how they're gonna perform. I just don't think it's accurate to call the entire corps the best in the nation when only 2 of them have shown anything in the conference yet. North showed great ability last year and I think he's a 3 and done player at UT....but I'm not ready to say he's the best WR in the country or SEC quite yet. Let him earn it first.

4 or 5 wide and run 4 verticals with an underneath route. Uncover-able with this talented bunch. They're not small either.
