Total Miles On Your Vehicle

2002 Jetta TDI - 207,000 miles. Routine maintenance.

My previous car was a 1985 Mercedes. I drove that car until it had 343,000 miles on her. She's still banging around East Tennessee somewhere, or at least that's the last report I heard about a year ago.

I love diesels. Lots of torque, better gas mileage, and they last forever.

Jeez, not exactly a ringing endorsement. Hopefully that motor was just an aberration.

Normally paint issues are rare for Nissan....has car been repainted...however a 2002 is 2-3 years after Nissan Engineering/Ops was given an edict to take costs out of the vehicle...IE if it costs $400 to pre-treat and paint but that lasts 20 years reduce the life to 10 years and reap savings...this mindset was applied to most components and selected Purchasing groups were told ....loaded up Purchasing with engineering guys and said 'here's your goal if you can't meet it we don't need you'...if I'm not mistaken car was made in Mexico who has good processes...

Fractional motor for window lift was made by 3 different companies....1 Japanese, 1 Canadian and 1 American...same engineering specs but oddly enough different material ones....

Historically the Sentra has been a very good car...in the early days (80's) as a key supplier I was able to buy one for personal use...I'd get a base model...add a stereo and carpet... drive it for 1-3 years..and sell it for more than what I paid for it.... because of abuse that program didn't last long...

0 lol i walk everywhere as a grad student :)

Thats great...now here comes one of those 'old fart' contributions...when I was in school (early 70's) I had a car didn't drive it much because of the cost of gas....around 30 or cents a gallon...I ran, walked, hitch hiked or rode my bike and it felt great...

lol sorry it isnt uphill both ways here in MD...pretty flat state except the very western part

2001 Chevy S-10. 145k with just routine maintenance ( did have the alternator rebuilt, though). Since I retired I change the oil about 3-4 times a year and put gas in it every 4-6 weeks.

Wow. I have 155k and I've been trying to convince myself it's enough to buy a new car. After reading this thread I wonder how much it's got left....

What kind is it? As long as it ain't German you can probably keep it running cheaply.

00 GMC truck 4x4 256k
04 BMW 3series 205k
04 Jeep Wrangler 99k
04 Ford Custom Vols Van 161k
96 4Runner 125k
80 Chevy C10 Custom Vols truck 44k

Keep the oil and maintenance up to date and your car will obviously last longer.

Yeah, first and only car I've ever bought so far.

Might not be the newest or best but I love it. The only thing that annoys me about it, is that damn EGR valve. I've had to clean it twice now because it gets clogged up and chokes the motor down real bad.

I'm also having a new brake booster replaced so hopefully that is the last major repair investment for awhile *knock on wood*

It should have the 4.3 V6 if I'm not mistaken. Great engine. Probably one the best built by GM (right behind the 350/5.7 )

Those egr's are a pia. You may look at a egr delete kit or even a better quality aftermarket setup.

You have a great vehicle my friend.

Yeah it has the 4.3 V6 motor in it, and thanks I really love it. It was a ***** to drive this summer with no AC though :eek:lol:

I'll have to look into that EGR kit, I haven't heard of those before.

No a/c? Damn.

Egr delete kits are widely available for many applications. Will need a tune to turn off the engine light but will perform better and get better mpg
