Toughest places to play in the SEC

It was a joke. Strakville is the most boring place on the face of the earth. The stadium fits right, especially with the cowbells and their relentless playing of "Who Let the Dogs Out?".

Ole Miss, at least, has a little atmosphere, stuck up as they may be.
oh i know, and i agree. I knew Starkville sucked when we went out Saturday night after the game and they roll up the sidewalks at midnight, and you can't buy cold beer there.

Maybe so, if you're in the band. The only thing rough about Ole Miss is the pavement in Oxford. Football games are reminiscent of Friday afternoon happy hour at the Art Museum: a lot of people there to see and be seen, but not terribly knowledgable or interested in the subject matter. Don't get me wrong: LOTS of fun and sweet scenery (uh. . . .if you're single), but don't even think about comparing Oxford to the Swamp, B-D, or Neyland.
i would agree with this...i went to the Bama/Ole Miss game in Oxford in 99 or 2000...it was fun. plenty of scenery as you stated, but found most everyone there to be there as a social function rather than rabid football crowd....

I think they've changed that law there now. It wouldn't help a whole lot, though.

no, not at all....i couldn't believe it....i wen to the bar around 10 to midnight and asked for a Jack and Coke and a shot...guy looked at me and said "no". I said, "look i got and I.D. and cash, let's work something out?", and he then told me that they can't serve alcohol after midnight....what a joke.

We have all experienced bad fans at every stadium, there is just some that are worst than others or just more of them, depending on the history of the teams.

Honestly, it doesn;t matter whether they sell the beer cold or not. I mean, what are you gonna do once you get buzzed? Go cow tipping? Play chicken?

That's about all there is to do there anyway, unless you have several cousins in the area. LOL

I've been to all but Arky, LSU, and UGA. I plan to cross Arky off the list this year. Possibly UGA, too.

Hit Athens, for sure. One of my favorites in the SEC.

I've not been to football in Arkansas, but after spending 4 years in Memphis, I'm not real excited about ever returning to that part of the country. You do know that the Mississippi flows right through there because it IS the butt-crack of the country, right?

It depends on what part of the game it is. They make a ton of noise, but in the past they have tended to run for the exits at the end of the 3rd quarter. That's changed some in the past 5 years or so.

Athens is "beautiful" on game day.

Most places are on game day. The rivalry might be ugly, but the co-eds are certainly not.

I actually agree with a lot of the article. BUT. . .I'd put the Swamp #1. Jordan-Hare should drop a few notches. Arky and SC should be below Neyland.

Point for us: We ARE complacent. Maybe the team would get a little tougher and give a little effort if the crowd it's playing for would get off its collective keister. Neyland should be deafening. No excuse for the lack of intimidation at the current.

That's what I was just about to say, what in the world is Auburn doing at the top of the list? I remember people telling me about the good 'ole days when people used to be scared to come into Neyland, it's been a long, long time. Hopefully we can do something this year to turn things around, I'm sick of the complacency, but at the same time I understand why it's there.

Yes, I know this. That is the reason West Memphis smells like a sewer.

Had more access to games in Athens verses UT since dad was employed by UGA and we were only 1.5 hours away. Athens is definitely a cool place to view a college game. Though I was a Vol fan, it was a long time before I actually got to go to some home games there. I was hooked on Neyland. That was back in the Andy Kelly and Todd Helton days. It rocked hard then. I was at the KY game about '97-'99 and it was unmatchable. UGA kinda has that feeling going into the stadium that gives you that buzzed and pumped feeling. Sort of like Neyland used to. We need a come back as fans as well.
