Tracking Saban's Replacement Thread

I'm not implying its true or anything like that. I do think Lanning is someone of interest to them but would be surprised if he was in Alabama.

Having said that, I believe Alabama administration has been aware of this happening for sometime. The word is Saban's wife has serious health issues. If I'm right, it would not shock me that they had wheels in motion for sometime on a replacement. I would expect a quick announcement on the replacement.
Always love what you bring.

Saban’s wife might very well be sick, but I told my best friend when the NIL started that this would be the end of Saban.

I read she has dementia, and this has been in the works for a little while. He recently bought a palace on the beach in Jupiter, so it adds up.

And notice how Kiffin has been saying nothing but nice and respectful things about Bama for the last few months - which is a first for him?

My money is on Kiffin to Bama, and announced very soon.

I think it will run a lot of coaches out. Especially older one's. Also, gonna make more of them think more about NFL. really a lot less headaches.

Thank you

They are going to hire pretty much whoever they want and that sucks, but that program has nowhere to go but down. No way in hell would I come work after Saban.
I dont think this is true at all, Kirby and Sark would be smart to stay where they're at.. whoever follows Saban is in a no win situation imo

Would be an epic lie if Lanning left Oregon. Has told them every time someone asked, as recent as 2 weeks ago he ain’t leaving.

C'mon, man.

Mario Cristobal got a DIRECT QUESTION "Would you take the Miami job if offered?" on December 4, 2021. He said, "Offered? I've not talked to anyone so let's not start a narrative....." He signed with Miami on December 6, 2021.

Believing what coaches say about loyalty or how they behave until they jump to a different school or whatever is ridiculous.

Supposedly Saban was conducting interviews for his staff a few hours before he announced he was leaving.

Coaches lie. Often. Loyalty hasn't existed for coaches from schools nor from coaches to schools since the money became ridiculous.

If Lanning is leaving Oregon, he'll almost surely insist he's not leaving, never dreamed of moving, and couldn't be dragged away....... while his wife packs up the house to move.

Coaches will lie about the possibility of leaving if they don't want tp lose recruits. Or lose potential transfer in/out.
Speaking of which, I think an announcement will be made soon for recruiting purposes.
It won't happen but it would blow everyones mind if it was Coach Prime.

So, this Saban thing is perplexing.

1. Why in the world would Saban retire without hand selecting his successor and, having that deal inked before he said au revoir?

If this occurred, and I am not saying it did, then sorry, but something happened in Tuscaloosa that eventually will come out in the news.

My money would be that there will be a presser today at 2pm and the new HC of Bama announced. Tide Nation will not be led astray and or be disappointed. At least not by Saban. The man will go out to a thunderous applause, not a "thud".

I don't think your going to see "successors" going forward. That is something that seems to have gone the way of the dodo.

The first thing to say is that no one knows what will happen, but I have a hard time understanding why either Sark or Lanning would leave top jobs. Both are in outstanding jobs. I know Bama is a destination job, but Texas and Oregon can give them everything they need to win. Bama would definitely be a step up for Kiffin, but the question is whether he wants to risk his reputation on following the GOAT.

“head coach in waiting” was trendy for a few years in the 00s but never seemed to work out very well. Either the one waiting got tired of waiting or it got ugly as the older coach was forced out.

ADs thought better of it.

The man bought a lot of benefit of the doubt with those multiple championships and elite level winning throughout two decades…along with red Dodge Chargers, homes and no show jobs for 5 star’s families and ground up unicorn powder for his athletes.

Agree. I don’t know why anyone would leave Austin for Tuscaloosa. And bama can’t outspend Texas.
