I wonder if the Pirates will be buyers? This series with the Reds could decide that, in a way.

Hunter Pence and Aramis Ramirez are options for the bucs

Heath Bell will be shipped out of San Diego. But it won't be for cheap.

And the Mets have said they'll eat some of Beltran's salary. The key is, though, he has veto power and will be very selective.

Heath Bell is the most likely trade piece, yes. I could see the Nats moving Clippard, as well.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Bell in the NL Central as a Card.

The biggest deal would be reyes, but with K rod off the books, they make be making a run at resigning him

The Yanks have 3 players in Keith Law's top 50 prospects(and a few more in the top 100), including 2 pitchers, so they have the talent.

But would they give up Betances/Banuelos and another player or two?

Montero is beginning to gain "wow, he was overrated" momentum

I think alonso would have to be involved, yes. And beyond that I'm not sure. Ubaldo is a tricky one to value.

Unless he's going to convert to being a starter, there are other positions the team needs more.

I can live with the bullpen, but this team has got to add another starter soon if they want to stay in the race.

John Heyman just tweeted that the rumored reds package is Yonder, Wood and Volquez.

IDK if I do that for the Reds. I'd give up Wood and Volquez. Volquez looks nothing like the same since the surgery, and Wood is overrated. But Alonso could be your left fielder this year, and Votto is only signed through the next couple year.

Alonso isn't going to play lf for the reds. If he was he would already be up. He is a good bat but only slightly above average as a first baseman if everything pans out. Volquez is terrible. Wood is inconsistent. I would be all over that deal.

reds also need a huge bat. doesn't do you any good to allow two runs a game if your only scoring one. i would ship volquez and wood in a heartbeat, but alonzo would have to get a better deal.

Alonso hasn't exactly turned into the huge bat he was drafted as and the reds are leading the nl in runs scored.
