Transfer Portal 21-22

The post was about her inconsistencies and you proposed that was crazy so you attack a fact then say in the next response you knew it was true. So which is it. I love the player but I see her production and play for what it is and wish it was better she gives her all.

I have nothing against Walker from an effort or personal view. I can show plenty of statistical data that she is somewhere between the 8th and 10th best point guard in the SEC. When she leaves Tennessee her basketball career is over she is not a WNBA talent. I think she will need to take a huge minutes cut unless the coach is willing to hold back better talented players from playing. Whatever the coach decides to do she does it in the best interest of the team so I certainly accept whatever happens. I am a big Powell fan and hope Walker staying does not prevent Powell or Miles from playing a lot of minutes. Walker has played a lot of two guard when both she and Miles are in the game we could see that happen almost exclusively next season.
In Walkers defense she has never played her natural position here. I would hold off her chances at the next level until we see how she plays when she is able to consistently play off the ball. We need everybody to step up and do their jobs. Powell will be a great addition and Miles game should get better but many (and not saying you in particular) will have the same arguments about Powell if she has a few off games and Miles if it looks like she doesn't take that sophomore leap.

Let's cherish what we have and stop trying to throw away one player in hopes of landing another.

I agree and was suggesting she be moved away from point guard when all the argument started. I don't think she is very comfortable at point guard and has never been it was sort of forced on her out of need. Shouldn't be a problem to grade a player on their performance after you have enough information to do so. That will go for Powell or any player. Doesn't mean they are not giving 100 percent of what they have to give.

Let me state one more time when I talk about a players contribution at a position it is not about their effort with which they play or any derogatory comment about them as a person giving all they have to give. The statement is always about the stats that they have made in their play and how the team has been affected by those stats for the entirety of the season. If we can't talk about a players production at a position the stats they are providing to the team without a few getting hostile then what exactly can we talk about here?

It's going to be interesting to see who fits which roles in the coming season. I see a lot of flexibility, giving Kellie lots of options. I see Powell as the starting PG, and MIles getting a lot of minutes at backup, especially if we go to a full court pressing defense. At the very least, we will have better on-ball half court defense with the Powell/Miles combo. Walker will be PG depth but I see most of her minutes will be at the two. I've noticed she is a better outside shooter when she's not burdened with PG duties. She'll get minutes whenever the other team wants to give us a full court press, along with Miles and Powell. She's a good rebounder, especially for her size, and I just see her as more effective at the two for both offensive and defensive purposes. I bet she'll work on her shooting and FTs and be a very dependable two next season. I'm really glad she's coming back with the versatility and toughness and leadership she will bring.

I know a lot of posters are going to dislike me saying this, but I think were still two or three players away on next years roster, even with who we have coming back, to competing with senior laden South Carolina next season. I think we were more compatible this year until the injuries struck. A lot of players on the roster next season know a lot of posters won't like me saying we need more. I just see it as true.

Well, we will be improved at the PG, and with greater depth. At the two we have options: Walker, Wynn, Pissott, Horston, Darby, Rennie with probably either Pissott or Horston starting. At the three we have options: Darby, Pissott, Horston, Suarez, Puckett, with probably Pissott or Horston starting. At the four we have options: Puckett, Suarez, Horston, Striplin (or Jackson) with Jackson starting or Puckett. Another option is Pissott at the 3 and Horston at the four, or vice versa, and put Walker/Wynn at the two. At the five we will have Key, Striplin, Horston, Puckett, or Emily, with Key starting. Horston's versatile talents gives Kellie mucho options, a great thing to have.

So far, with the three seniors leaving and Pissot arriving, we have twelve players. If Jackson signs, we'll have 13. I think Kellie will stop at 13. She has said she likes that number, unless a real gem comes along she can't turn down. Perhaps a five for the future.

Normally I would agree with you but SC loses 3 very key pieces next season. 1. Saxton, 2.Henny, 3.Grissett.

Who is SC starting PG next season. Raven missed the entire season, will dawn move Cooke there until Raven is ready or will she throw Cooper in there? Saxton isn't easy to replace, she does all the little things that makes Boston Job a lot easier. Will Amihere be as patient in a loaded draft class that she is eligible in? Grissett has been on the team the longest and knows Dawn and her expectations well. That type of leadership isn't as easy to replace. I don't crown champions before games are played because as we saw yesterday and have seen far too often (Miss State, Arizona) anybody can crash the party and upset the team everyone expects to win.

She still has Boston and Cardosa and can move the big freshman forget her name in with them and have likely the top post group in the nation. She isn't playing much because of the depth situation. I think point guard may be a problem since Raven missed the entire year, but she is a different kind of player may not have the learning curve of most freshmen. If we get Jackson we'll be very close, but when they lose it is always to a team going far beyond what they can usually accomplish as a team.

Jackson and a big post I would feel fine. Emily not going to be it. Karoline a little undersized, but I think she will be ready by next season. We get SC at home next season they don't like to play anywhere in Tennessee they lose more game in the state than anywhere else they play.

The Cardosa you see in SC isn't the Cardosa you saw at Syracuse. Feagin and Watkins are likely to see the bench next season just like Feagin did this season imo. Eniyah Russell is still trying to see the floor and seemingly Rivers and Bree Hall has passed her in the lineup. I don't see just the PG position being the issue but all 3pt shooting. It will be interesting to see to say the least. I don't think the learning curve will be the issue for Raven as much as getting back out there physically, but we shall see.

She’ll probably go hunt in the portal as well I’m never counting Dawn out especially after she got 6’7 Cardosa when she still had Boston on the roster

I won't count her out either, I just don't think everybody will be willing to just "wait their turn" like Henny did. These 5* recruits are going to want to play. Especially if they feel the person in front of them isn't as good as them. Wishing them all the best though!

Three point shooting is a problem for them this season as well. They win yesterday if Cooke and Henderson work harder to get Boston more shots instead of them jacking up shots themselves. I think Henderson and Cooke took over 30 shots and made like 8 of them, They slide Boston 10 of those Kentucky probably loses the game.

I've seen Hall and Rivers lately they look like they are coming around and getting better. Their depth and quality will still be amazing next season.

No way I dismissed what she has done just stating how what she is doing is unacceptable to be a big winner meaning SEC and NCAA Championship.
It was about the post where you or another poster said she didn’t factor into their equation in so many words. I only read the first couple of sentences and stopped because I really don’t have the desire to go back and forth with you on this. You feel how you feel and I feel how I feel, now that it’s established just shut up

She factors in a five year player is going to factor in. I don't know if she still factors in as a point guard looks to me would be a good time to move her to the two. I did have her ninth in the rotation, but that was with Powell, Jackson, and another post player along with Marta Suarez all coming onto the team. Kellie will use her as she sees fit conjecture on my or anyone else posting here is just that their way of seeing things.

Like i said before you never know what Cooke you will get ?. The plus they get pg Johnson back next season

So what did Rickea do leave Texas without committing? I have looked and do not see anywhere that she committed there. She may still be taking that visit to LSU.
Mulkey has an incredible success rate when getting the last official visit from high school recruits.

Now, for transfers (especially grad-transfers), I've noticed across many sports that the school who gets the first official visit ends up winning out a large percentage of the time. Mulkey has definitely landed a lot of transfers and grad-transfers, but their visit schedule is not typically as publicized out on social media as are those of high school recruits.
