Transfer Portal 21-22

Mulkey has an incredible success rate when getting the last official visit from high school recruits.

Now, for transfers (especially grad-transfers), I've noticed across many sports that the school who gets the first official visit ends up winning out a large percentage of the time. Mulkey has definitely landed a lot of transfers and grad-transfers, but their visit schedule is not typically as publicized out on social media as are those of high school recruits.

How many visits are transfers allowed? I thought she was also considering Ole Miss.

Jala Jordan (6-2 RS JR forward, Philadelphia, PA) has entered her name into the portal, as a grad xfer out of Auburn WBB; played in all 28 games in 2021-22, starting 7 and averaging 6.4 PPG, 3.9 RPG & a team-leading 25 blocks in 16.4 MPG

I think she would be a good pickup to add depth to the bench ? She has skills and is very talented

To add I have nothing against her Walker as a competitor, but her numbers expand that we need much better play at the point guard position. 240 attempts for 231 points is 0.96 per attempt and 1.0 is considered fair offensively so she is below that on offense. Powell before she left 261 points in 19 games on 222 field goal attempts for a 1.18 which is getting up there because 1.2 would be the beginning of elite. To put that in perspective Rickea Jackson went for 305 points on 295 Field goal attempts for a 1.03 which is just over fair offense. Of course we want her badly, but the way she affected Miss St offensively was not as great as the way Powell affected Minnesota offensively this season. Powell was the more efficient player at least for the time they played this season. That doesn't mean she would be in any other season, but when you get get a 1.18 point per field goal attempted from you point guard you are getting great production.
141 field goal attempts for 163 1.15 tess darby tess needs work getting her own shot off. but her production per attempts is good. she not off and on shoter. tess needs more shots thats on tess first on team next. no saying she should start which i see tess more as key backup next year . but she has produce per shot attempt. tess will coming off the bench if we get a anthor key portal player for sure. but 1.15 is not bad does not matter which dardy basher says so or not.

I was thinking about that this weekend. It's something coaches always have to balance. I thought KJH was playing for the future a bit with Wynn's increased mins and especially Striplins'. The decision gets easier when its clear the older player will not be effective so there's not much lost. Also easier when you're decimated with injuries and you have no choice. It's always a juggling act.

KJH is a pretty free substituter, sometimes to our dismay, so most will get decent mins. The competition, if handled skillfully will help as well.

If, please basketball gods, we get Rickea there will really be a squeeze on minutes.
Yes, but Kellie is right that players need minutes to be ready to take the court for substantial minutes Incas of injuries. Happens to us this season.

Let me state one more time when I talk about a players contribution at a position it is not about their effort with which they play or any derogatory comment about them as a person giving all they have to give. The statement is always about the stats that they have made in their play and how the team has been affected by those stats for the entirety of the season. If we can't talk about a players production at a position the stats they are providing to the team without a few getting hostile then what exactly can we talk about here?
It’s the way things are said. Constructive is different than judge mental or accusatory.

If Rickea Jackson came to TN, I definitely don’t see a need or purpose to have Rae come back next year. Rickea is basically the same position, but probably more efficient in scoring that Rae, and a stronger build.

I think people should be careful about Tennessee gorging themselves on the portal. The portal presents significant value, yes, but there is also great value in continuity, skill, and experience. Every scholarship you give out for a year is a scholarship you can't offer to a four year player. Ball handling skills, I get. Minutes in the post, I get. But there's also something to a player who will be coming back year after year. Well, that is, unless they go into the portal too. Sigh. What a wonderful thing the transfer portal is.

She still has Boston and Cardosa and can move the big freshman forget her name in with them and have likely the top post group in the nation. She isn't playing much because of the depth situation. I think point guard may be a problem since Raven missed the entire year, but she is a different kind of player may not have the learning curve of most freshmen. If we get Jackson we'll be very close, but when they lose it is always to a team going far beyond what they can usually accomplish as a team.

You know how SC do. SC will get the top PG in the transfer market to help Raven and establish depth. Rivers also can play point guard. She was actually the backup during the SEC season.

I won't count her out either, I just don't think everybody will be willing to just "wait their turn" like Henny did. These 5* recruits are going to want to play. Especially if they feel the person in front of them isn't as good as them. Wishing them all the best though!

I remember when Dawn brought in the number 1 recruiting class in 2019 how adamant you was on one of them transferring. That was probably just wishful thinking on your part.

PG could be a problem you are 100% correct other then Raven Johnson ? i think Hall is better at the SG but can play the pg, 6-1 Talaysia Cooper is playing the pg in HS next Level ? I think Dawn will use her like we use Horston because of her skills and length.

Still real early in the portal season. Of course we want Rickea Jackson none of us are not wanting that to happen. If for any reason she doesn't pick us were still going to have a lot of options the portal will be 1000 players strong. There is always the possibility that we'll have a player or two enter like last season.

Nothing judgmental about showing a players stats for the season and comparing them to opponents. Just true facts that some posters find offensive.
I don’t find it offensive. I do find it reductive. The player who hit the winning 3 for KY yesterday is a so-so player. She just hit the right shot at the right time.

volfan2012 what do you think up 1.15 points per atts. tess shot production creation limits her points but per atts she has not shot ball bad this year. early post was not attack wanded your opoion on tess darby points per atts. 1.15 and we know justine pissott is the leading choice to replace rae.

I hope she gets in all the visits she wants so when it comes to making a decision, it is an informed one. I hope she considers us strongly but in the end, I hope we get great players who want to be Lady Vols. Desire is important. If she wants to go elsewhere, I wish her the best.
Perfectly stated! And, I believe that’s exactly how Coach Kellie and staff presented their case.
For my two cents, I think that, if she’s seriously considering LSU we might have to wait for several weeks for her decision, because she’s very bright, and will want to see the team Coach Mulkey assembles through the portal/recruiting after the impending roster depletion.
However, if it’s Texas, or US, we could know very soon, perhaps mid-week after her Baton Rouge tour. Exciting times ahead!

Does Maria have any idea which school she could choose?

I don't know this answer, but ever since she completed her Texas visit I have this fantasy of coming to this site and seeing that Kellie has made another "BOOM" comment on social media. I then feel the excitement of this and then having to muster up the patience to wait for this to confirmed that it is Rickea. A related negative tangent is that then I imagine finding out days later that the boom was for one of the less talented player's sibling. Recruiting just brings out the crazy in me o_O:p:D

There is nothing so-so about Dre's basketball skills. She is averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds for the year, and reportedly 20 points during this winning streak. We have seen the drastic difference in how good Kentucky is when she is on the court. As a Freshman, she was the PAC-12 Freshman of the year. I can understand that one may question her in terms of her maturity or behavior, but not sure why her basketball skills are being questions at a juncture where she is shining like a diamond.
