Transfer Portal 21-22

didnt see this coming

Makes sense to me really. I don’t think she’ll play a whole lot more there than she would have at Tennessee though.

Does the SEC still have players sit out a year if they transfer in conference? If so that pretty much confirms her departure was academic. Would make sense to transfer in conference if possible if she needs to improve her academic standing she’ll have a year to get it straight.

Otherwise I would imagine she’d have gone OOC so she could play immediately.

No way not a chance can Striplin handle Nicholson on the low block just can`t.

I have seen Striplin play 6'4"+ players and she regularly beats them,,,her game is a mixture of physical and outside shooting. As a fan, you're thinking about matching up with them,,,As a coach, I am thinking about making them having to match-up with me

They are voting on that next week I believe, but as of right now she would have to sit with no ability to to request a waiver due to her transfer within the conference. Pretty sure they’re going to vote to do away with it just as the ACC did recently.

We will see. I personally would like to see it stay in place. Not because it would apply to Salary, I would love for her to be able to play. She seems like a great young lady and I’m sad she was not able to continue being a Lady Vol.

But this season has shown there needs to be limits. This many transfers is not sustainable and academics are taking a backseat. Less than 10 of these women each season will have a long term WNBA career. Academic achievement will set them up for a positive future, basketball or not.

Truly expect the NCAA to re-evaluate the transfer rules again.

Fair point but this is another level and Nicholson is a very physical player in her own right. Not Striplin can`t play just saying Nicholson will be a match up problem anyone other then Key.

Nicholson will be gassed chasing Karoline around unless she improves her fitness. Only averaged about 10 minutes a game and was huffing and puffing with just that. Karoline looks to be in great shape. She’ll be running bigger 4 players all over the floor.

Other teams did that to us all season after Marta went out. Kasi just couldn’t run around that much and get out to shooters on the perimeter.

Well one way to find out when we play GA.

I think we should be after Conti or Lewis, but who knows at this point. Too many unknowns and everything is speculation. Conti's being followed by Michigan and UCLA pretty heavily though and she'd fit both of their systems well. I think Lewis is being heavily approached by Baylor.

I haven't been too impressed with Nicholson...For her size, I would've looked for her to avg more pts & rebs per game...I definitely think Striplin will produce much better numbers, even as a freshman...Head-to-head match up is something we will have to wait and see... 👍🧡🧡

Nicholson did share time with 6-3 Malury Bates who also is a very good player but like you said we will wait in see. So when it comes down to who has the better front court right now it`s GA.

I would have agreed with Nicholson being gassed during her freshman season, but she was in much better shape this past season. I would like for her to work on keeping her seal when she posts up. If the ball goes inside, she usually does a good job with her footwork on having a good counter-move. I think you will see her, Zoesha, and Maori take steps forward in the upcoming season. To me, this will be one of the best teams Joni has fielded since she has been at the helm of the program. Decisions for Gabby and Maya should be coming out soon, and if they opt to go, keep your eyes on a big transfer for Joni to land.

That teams roster has extremely high potential, but the games are played on the court, so we'll have to wait and see on this as well...We hope to join you...🙂🧡👍

True, she's most likely Baylor bound.

Makes sense for her. She will likely get a lot of playing time even with the sophomore to be being a 5 star point already on the roster. Also, she has a reasonable shot at being on a team that gets deep into the tournament.
