Transfer Portal 22-23

Her playing time already took a hit with Jackson taking a COVID year. I wonder if she was shopping around a bit for interest before she made it official?

Also remember she plays the wing and Darby to, So right there you have a log jam.

Darby is more of a two. I don't think that's Pissott's spot. I don't think she can defend on the perimeter the way that a SG needs to. Not that Darby can either, but I would guess that Justine was probably even worse. She seems like she's a natural 3 who could play stretch 4, and Jackson/Hollingshead were gonna get most of those minutes. She'd be fighting with Puckett and Striplin for 10 min/g.

I thought she'd get more than 10. I see Hollingshead/Key/Striplin splitting all the 4/5 mins, and Puckett and Pissiot as the primary 2/3 backups for Darby and Rickea. And yes, that leaves us a terrible defensive liability at 2 which is why I pray the portal fairy brings us a good SG. But at least btw Darby, Puckett and Pissiot probably someone can hit some 3s. Guess that's all irrelevant now.

I'll bet this is not about playing time. Do we even know if this is official?

Justine may be in Orange next year unless she just wants to be close to home. Don’t see it getting much better for her elsewhere
If she transfers I can see a Big East school guess we'll find out soon. Everyone that gets in the portal does not transfer so until she does she is just in the portal.

I agree Darby is more of a two but KJH don't play her at there because she is to slow on defense and is poor at handling the rock on offense. That is why Horston played the two spot.

Looks like all the coaches, including Kellie, and also Tamari are following Aicha from Auburn on instagram. I know this could mean nothing, but interesting given Coach Sam’s tweet today.

I imagine it's Aicha on a visit tbh. There was no official announcement about A&M - just a rumoured twitter post

Ok I am starting to put this together. Aicha Coulibaly is from Mali originally and they speak french there. Plus if I saw Aicha was coming here I would get in the transfer portal. She is mostly a 2-3 player which has a great mid range game and can rebound get to the basket. Not a great three point threat.

Yeah true, but it’s also interesting they didn’t post Destinee’s visit, we found out about it from a twitter post. So I’m thinking maybe she’s gonna commit if she’s there lol. Hope Coach Sam isn’t doing all this for a visit.

You are correct my friend. In CHRIST Alone

Just don’t see the reason still. I guess she wants to play right away. If she would stick it out and improve her game she’d be in prime position to be the start her junior and senior season.

Wish her all the best, the grass isn’t always greener.

Where is she gonna play right away other than a bad P5 or lower

I think she could play a lot at places like Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Butler, etc. if what she wants is to get to play a lot. We have to keep trying to get better players whether that is in the portal or elsewhere. Players can't be threatened by that to the point they want to leave. If they are then they are afraid of competition. I can see where she might think she should've got some of Darby's minutes and I tend to agree. Still you just work to get better or transfer to one of the schools I mentioned where you don't have much competition for playing time.

Kinda my point. Sad to see her go. Don’t think she will be transferring up or to a better situation. I could see a school like MIZZOU or A&M going after her. Maybe a Baylor, but I think those would all be less positive, worse situations than she was in at Tennessee.

A lower rated SEC team (Vandy) is possible if she wants to stay in a P5 conference. Otherwise, she could return close to home on a Big East team. Villanova would be a good choice for her as being close to home and having available playing time.
Forgot about Villanova would be the perfect place for her. They have a lot of scholarships open too.
