No idea if the portal rankings are "way off" or not. But the rankings of a lot of high school recruits in WBB, especially big's, are often bad. People seem to latch on to Lauren Betts (don't mean to pick on her) designation by ESPN as the #1 ranked recruit in 2022 like these rankings are omnipotent. UNC, UCLA, Duke, ND, Iowa etc. fans in a lather over her next destination. Did people actually watch her at Stanford? You can't teach 6-7 but she was rather slow afoot before she got bigger. The extra weight didn't help.

At this point based on what's been done so far she probably is about where she should be in these subjective rankings. Seen too many Lauren Coxes, Sedona Prices, Hannah Guesters etc. not to become cynical. The Kitley at Va. Tech and Cunnane at NC State types seem to turn out better. The women for Iowa and Indiana respectively, who don't miss chippies and few had heard of before they got to college, often turn out better.

UConns Amari Deberry is another product of the big girl hype machine since Cameron Brink and Angel Reese. No fault of the players. They don't rank themselves.

Cox was absolutely outstanding in college. I think she struggles to stay healthy given her diabetes and all. She got hit by COVID pretty hard coming out of Baylor while trying to transition to the wnba but I wish her all the best. I enjoyed her in college
