If you can average 8 points and 8 rebounds per night in the BIG10 why wouldn't you take him?
Absolutely. Think I read he rebounds like Laimbeer and has a nasty disposition on the floor. My one question is can he join us by Friday?

He’ll probably reunite with Dan Hurley at UConn but we need a backup PG and he would be a pretty nice addition.

I’m guessing he isn’t going to be sold on going somewhere to be a backup PG, with that said, his shooting numbers aren’t very impressive either...quite the volume shooter, he is however a good playmaker and defender.

Highly doubt we’ll be able to convince him to play backup PG, but maybe starting 2 guards?? He’s from Canada so maybe Barnes will have some connection there, dude will be sought after by every program.

Marcus Carr - Men's Basketball - University of Minnesota Athletics

All 1st team B10 this year, 2nd team last year...averaged 19ppg 5apg 4rpg as Minnesota’s PG this past year.

Yeah, Marcus Carr would be an incredible get. I'd be super hyped. I just don't see it happening though unfortunately. We probably aren't that attractive of a location. He'd immediately make us an SEC title contender though with Kennedy, JJJ, BHH, etc.

You could start both . He is mainly a scorer so he could benefit being a 2 at times .

Unless we can’t address more obvious needs in the front court, I think it would be a waste to go after someone who is simply a backup PG.

Marcus Carr would not be a backup anything. If he came here, he'd start. Probably at the 2 and not the 1, but he'd start. I think he wants to play PG though so that's why I doubt he looks at us seriously.

I’m not referring to him. I’m speaking in general. We have more obvious needs

I think a case could be made that “best case” we would be able to add a better backup PG option that could also play some 2 and be a better defender than Vescovi/Bailey. I agree it’s not likely priority #1 but I could make a case it’s a need.

Against small quick teams we could definitely struggle defensively if Chandler/Vescovi/Bailey are our options
I agree, looking ahead with what we know about next years roster I think we could struggle defensively on the perimeter.

We probably need Mashack or Chandler to be a lockdown perimeter defender, unless we can find one in the transfer portal. I don’t have high hopes for that from chandler since we’ll be asking so much from him offensively, but sounds like mashack could potentially give us that.

Walker Kessler announced he will be in the portal
Just was coming to say the same thing, now that he is officially in the portal, we need to make a HARD push for him. I mean hopefully we have everything to offer that he wants. Playing with a dominant point guard, immediate playing time/starting, and basically being the focal point of the post offense.

He's just another name that I can't get fired up about. He showed no real interest in UT and never even came on campus. Other than UNC, his final choices were reported to be Auburn, Cal, Duke, Gonzaga, and Michigan. I bet he ends up at Auburn or Georgia. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Yeah I’m curious why people think we have a good chance to land him. Of those teams, I can’t image he’d go to Duke and Auburn is not looking super appealing next year. Cal? Did he have some kind of relationship w Mark Fox? Would also seem like a weird destination. Gonzaga? Is Drew Timme leaving?

Apparently he has family connections to Georgia.

That’s most likely his destination.

It would be a waste of time trying to get this kid.

Dad, brother, and uncle all played there. Didn’t pick them the first time around. Hard to say they are the favorite and UGA isn’t a really good team if you want to make a move to a winning program.

That said, he toyed with Tennessee but never followed they with a visit in his original recruitment, but I have my fingers crossed.
