Also saw that he wanted to be more of a stretch forward instead of an inside presence. I know it’s looking like Barnes wants to shoot the 3 more next season with the shooters coming in but can’t blame him for going to Auburn when that’s all they do. We need a big that is willing and able to play inside, defend, and catch lobs.

In the NBA if you can't shoot the 3 you're not playing much, even as a 7 footer, unless you're absolutely excellent on defense and rebounding. The NBA is looking for the next Joel Embiid and Kristaps Porzingis for their posts.

Jahlil Okafor is a prime example, he's a 17-8 guy if a team gives him minutes in the post and allows him to shoot from the block but he doesn't defend well or shoot 3 pointers so he barely sees the floor most nights.

Clint Capela is a dominant rebounder and great defender so he gets to play. Andre Drummond is a great rebounder but not a great defender and he can't hit 3s, so two different teams gave up on him the last two years. On the Lakers he won't need to do very much but you can't build a team around him.

If you're 7 feet tall and can play outside you're probably the #1 pick in most drafts. So it's going to be harder for us to attract elite 5s if we don't allow them to play outside.

JV for the Grizzlies is a great rebounder and low post scorer, but still shoots a couple of 3s a game. It's just how the NBA has evolved

The father was a concern for me, but the fact that he reached out to Barnes (allegedly) helped to calm those fears. Still, the first sign of struggle or disagreement could have sent him/them off the rails with Barnes, too.
This was not a good fit from all indications. Some times it’s just best to be okay with the idea that he is/was a Roy Williams or Bruce Pearl kind of guy. After all the red flags with Pearl, if he chooses to go there, I certainly am glad he didn’t come here.

Chris Beard already doing big things at Texas. The Longhorns really did fall ass first into the best hire they’ve made in any sport in quite some time. Those lucky SOBs.
I think he’ll win a national championship there. Hopefully it won’t happen before Barnes retires otherwise it will make this board even more insufferable

The guys you mention live in the paint...lol

Embiid and Porzingis? Embiid shoots 3.5 3s per game for his career and is shooting 38 percent from there this year. Porzingis shoots about 5 per game in his career and is shooting about 7 per game this year. Embiid also shoots often in the 15-17 foot range. Yes, both play in the paint some but it isn't the sole aspect of their game. That's why you see 7 footers wanting to play in places where they get to work outside the arc too.

If you're referring to Capela, yes, he plays in the paint but his offense is fueled by great offensive rebounding and putbacks. He's also a great defender and shot blocker.

Drummond plays in the paint and as I pointed out, multiple teams chose to move on from him and Cleveland paid him to leave.

On the block, through the post basketball with a 7 footer who never moves more than 5 feet from the paint is over in the NBA.

Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula. Come join the rest of us in reality.

FBI recorded Will Wade

Roy knew
Do you have facts that Roy knew? Also all I said was the Will wade situation has yet to be resolved by the ncaa and fbi so your argument holds no water how’s that for reality?

Are you really going to act like shooting the three for those big man is a big part of their game when the stats suggest rebounding and 2point field goals are what garner most of their percentages...

Has there been anything said on VQ or 247 to suggest that Fulky is coming back? Everyone has announced their intentions so far except for Fulky, and that leads me to believe that he wants to come back. With all the changes we are having next season too it would be a huge help to have him back as the teams leader.

Peal lost himself by lying to investigators, has nothing to do with anything else where do our fans come up with this crap?

Lmao. Crap? Ok, Karen. Sorry to have disturbed your perfectly balanced view of the world. Wade is on tape committing violations. And he is still at LSU and isn’t going ANYWHERE. But, somehow what happened to Pearl is absolutely correct.

I agree, where DO our fans come up with this crap?

Yes, VQ has said numerous times the feeling is he will come back but that it’s not final yet.

Rob didn't sound as confident on the VQ podcast yesterday but would be shocked if he isn't back.

I just struggle to see Fulky hanging it up after dealing with the rash of injures last season + COVID. He never looked right. And he essentially got screwed out of both playing in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. I've got to imagine that is not how he wants to go out and that he wants to take this extra year he was given and leave on a high note.

Fox Sports Knoxville is saying that Vescovi is trending towards “pursuing professional options overseas”. Could be yet another spot opening up soon.

I don’t think it’s good for him either. That to me would suggest he just isn’t happy being in the US since he isn’t considering transferring to other schools.

This would hurt, because I have high hopes for Vescovi next year. I wonder where we would go to replace him.

It's a massive part of their game. They play all over the floor on offense. Porzingis shoots almost 7 3s a game. Shaq was 1-22 in his career from 3 over 19 years by comparison, barely over 1 attempt per year. Porzingis shoots as many 3s as Trey Young. Vucevic shoots over 6 as well. So does Karl Anthony Towns.
