I wondered if that were it (was my first guess) but his HS listed on Sports Reference is Shakopee HS in Minnesota. I bet he moved to Sunrise for his senior year, or something. I also considered a possible affiliation with MoKan Elite, but he played AAU ball for a team out of Minnesota, too. Thanks. He went to Sunrise Christian
His rebounding ability in all 4 years is really consistent, pretty crazy.Wow, almost 900 career rebounds in 4 years in the ACC?
Yes please.
Though he wasn't amazing against the best teams in the ACC (Duke, UNC, Virginia) he DID put up some good numbers against FSU and Virginia Tech. Also, it's not like he was on a stacked BC team the last 4 years. Definitely don't put all of that on him.
Yeah, pretty remarkably consistent. His rebounding ability in all 4 years is really consistent, pretty crazy.
Yea I think he’s have to be on board with 25mpg max, but with his versatility I think he could get that on this roster.Yeah, pretty remarkably consistent.
8.3 as a freshman
7.9 as a sophomore
8.7 as a junior
7.3 as a senior
I'd take that in a heartbeat. Granted, he won't be playing 30+ minutes a game if he came to UT, but his career rebounding percentage of 14.3% would be better than anyone on the team right now. And his down year in rebounding (this past season), he still had a total rebounding % of 12.7%, which would've been 4th on this year's team.
Yea, he’s an above average shot blocker for sure...he gets a really high number of steals for a non guard as well...his bio said something like only Top 30 guy in steals per game at 6’7” or taller. He's also averaged a block per game in his 108 games, totaling 113 blocks in 4 years.
Not extremely dynamic, but that's very consistent, too.
Steffon Mitchell Declares for NBA DraftThe Senior, who averaged 9.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists this year, was a fan favorite for the Eagle faithful who loved his grit, effort, and leadership on the court. While never the most potent offensive threat on the team, his defense and rebounding proved invaluable to the Eagles game in and game out. Perhaps most memorably, he put on a phenomenal defensive performance against Marvin Bagley III in 2017-18 en route to victory over #1 ranked Duke.
He departs the program a veritable swiss army knife, having played 108 total games and averaging 6.8 points, 8.1 boards, and 2.4 assists along the way. He was rewarded with a place on the 2019-2020 ACC All-Defensive team.
This is my thought as well...I think an Abdul Ado may be the best case scenario, but this guy isn’t far off.How many stud players will want to transfer in to be a rotational player off the bench? This guy might be close to being the ideal player in that he’s clearly been doing that for a high major team (maybe wants to just be part of a good team) and is a versatile 4/5 player. What are the chances we find a similar player but a couple inches taller?
I know the coaching staff hasn't asked me yet, but I'm more concerned with having an enforcer type player underneath. A 6'6" Charles Barkley type build would work fine for me. I think these type players affect the game in ways that do not show up on the stat sheet, but do show up in the final score.
