Transfer Portal Thread

I’m not sure what your criteria are but what exactly has Kentucky, Arizona, or Maryland done over the past few years that Tennessee has not? Is the standard just “Make it to the Elite 8” because Arizona has been terrible. They haven’t made it to an Elite 8 since 2014. Kentucky has won an SEC Tournament but how could you possibly argue they’ve had more success than TN recently outside of that?

Elite Eight and multiple conference titles for Kentucky and Arizona. Maryland is tied with us. They don’t have the 30 win season but they have a regular season conference title, a S16 and two other R32 appearances (one better than UT) and four* NCAAT appearances (would have 5 for 2020)

Elite Eight and multiple conference titles

Arizona hasn’t made it to the NCAAT since 2017. They got bounced in the first round that year. They got bounced in the Sweet 16 in 2016. I refuse to believe they’ve had more success than TN since Barnes has been here. That’s just not true.

I’ll add that since 2015-2016 when Barnes made it to TN and took over a horrible situation, Arizona has won exactly 1 more conference title than TN, and has the same appearances in the NCAAT.

Lol so for actual transfer portal news...since that's the name of this thread.

Kofi Cockburn has officially withdrawn his name from the NBA Draft and is staying in the portal. So he's officially the "biggest" (pun intended) name in the portal right now.

Over the last four years we’ve had made more success yes. If you take the full six years since Barnes actually got here:

1x 30 win seasons
4x 20 win seasons
2x regular season titles
2x Two conference tourney titles
1x S16
3x NCAAT appearances

That is Arizona

Tennessee isn’t really taking any transfers so it’s a nice little free for all thread

Again, that’s with Arizona being in a much better position than Barnes the first 2 years he was here which no one can possibly blame Barnes for. I just don’t find the resume of Arizona that much more compelling considering the weakness of the PAC-12 in recent memory and the wealth of talent Arizona literally bought.

That’s fine and again I’d take us over the last four years for sure. I was just simply going by criteria for the last six

You did the work for me remember! Also we need to say…there is a couple schools you could argue to be ahead like USC where they went 22-9 and could have made a postseason run but didn’t get a chance too because of COVID.

So…here’s my list of schools that I would list have had more success or the same amount over the last six years since Barnes got here. I didn’t look up every single situation and there have been some schools that don’t have a high like 31 wins, but also been to more tournaments or been farther (Florida, Wisconsin for example) that I’d have to think about a little more

Gonzaga
Michigan
Texas Tech
Baylor
Kentucky
Duke
Oregon
Michigan State
North Carolina
Kansas
Villanova
Auburn
Florida State
Maryland
Purdue
Arizona

Auburn is a stretch imo, nice F4 run but we counting South Carolina too then?

Arizona hasn’t been to a NCAAT in 4 years, that’s laughable.

Well I also set parameters at 4 years and he now extended to 6, I’m guessing because he realized just how successful UT had been the last 4 years comparatively speaking.

Impossible I was just told yesterday Kentucky doesn’t matter in college basketball anymore!

Your love for Kentucky is so weird.

We know your against Barnes and will find any way to downplay his achievements.

Auburn has 2 NCAAT appearances to our 3 (would have been 3 they were 25-6 before COVID), they have a 30 win season, they have a regular season title AND a conference title, they have as many R32 appearances and they have a Final Four.

Much much rather be Auburn for those six years

I don’t have love for Kentucky. I’m just not blinded and make crazy statements about them and how their program is in demise

Trying to compare Auburn’s last six years to some sort of South Carolina miracle did give me a good laugh thanks

So you’ll take 2/6 NCAAT if 1 is a F4 run? Call me skeptical lol. And they lost as the better seed in their other appearance. And that’s not even mentioning the NCAA trouble they’ve got lingering lol

Except there’s literally a lot of UK fans around my area who are ready to move on from Cal and his one & done approach. Does that make them crazy too?

31 first-rounders, 21 lottery picks during his time at Kentucky with only One National is pretty underwhelming considering the ridiculous amount of talent he’s had to work with.

To the bold- it would have been 3/6…three in a row if not for COVID but you keep forgetting that…and they wouldn’t have need a “well well if we had won a couple games you never know even though we were 17-14!” caveat.

And Barnes has lost, what, three times as the higher seed in the tourney since being at UT?

You’ll have to forgive me if I’m not bending to the will and intelligence of Kentucky fans. Very convenient all your UK fans hate Cal, because I know a few UK and yes they bring up underachieving but most of them are pretty content and happy with Calipari. We know his athletic department and NBA GM’s think pretty highly of him.

Also which program has had better overall success than Kentucky since Calipari has gotten there? And sure he could have an extra National title or two. He also two Final Fours as a lower seed with a 4 and a 8 too

And yet couldn’t even put together a .500 team this year…if you think Auburn has a better basketball program as of today there’s not really much to discuss with you.
