I'm fine with whoever we get at WR. If it's Brazzell, I'm good with that. Someone else, good with that. At TE I'd prefer Staes. But if it's Dingle, whatever. I'd love if we'd pursue Chase Bisontis to be our other starting OG. I don't understand why we're pursuing the OL we've been linked to, other than this staff sees them as potential diamonds in the rough. And I think they target too many of these unpolished diamonds, and not enough of the guys who are already ready to shine.
My main concern is defense. With Baron in the portal, I'd love to see us pursue Princely Umanmielan or Trey Moore to replace him. Supposedly we're going after Fadil Diggs, who is also a good option, but if all of our eggs are in that basket, what happens if we miss? We have multiple options for TE, but not Edge? At DL, like I said, I understand avoiding Nolen, though I'd love to have him, but why not someone like LT Overton? Honestly, I wouldn't mind pursuing some guys based on potential there, like Will Norman, or Xzavier McLeod. I wish we'd pursued Chris Paul at LB, but it's too late there. Not sure if there's another veteran LB worth pursuing or not, though I do think we could use one. At CB, Nyland Green would be my first choice. I'd also check out Tyreek Chappell and Corey Thornton. At safety, we supposedly expressed interest in Kamari Ramsey, but someone said VQ reported he has no interest in us. So I'd look at Andrew Mukuba, or Akili Arnold. Maybe the Dunnam kid from Indiana, or Grant from Buffalo.
The defense needs a lot of help. I want our young guys to get reps, but we need veteran presence to balance it out. And we could improve this defense so much if we could get some of these portal guys. I'm just not convinced FCS CBs are the best option. It falls into our coaches looking for players they consider "diamonds in the rough".
We need to be trying to shrink the talent gap between us and Bama and Georgia.
