'24 Transfer Portal

The ND guys were marveling at the rankings and saying Staes was their 5th best TE. Sometimes the portal rankings are relative. What I like about Dingle is he has played and scored in SEC. None of these guys are Brock Bowers.
Brock Bowers? The greatest player in Georgia Bulldog history?

We don’t want any of those level players it seems
Lol. You do have to have some perspective on juggling a roster full of egos that already demand their own NiL and playing time. Some of these guys just don't align with that combo. Same reason they left their home team. Plus we have history with Nolan that adds another layer.

I understand why we're not going after Nolen. The history is bad. I don't understand why we're not pursuing some other high-level guys.

For all of our talk of not having the talent of Bama or Georgia, when it comes to the portal, we're not recruiting the talent that would help narrow the gap.

Thanks. Is it just hope that he goes in or is there some smoke that he might go in?
I always hear the recruiting experts say you need an in to have a chance. Some connection to a guy. There is a connection with him. He really did post on Instagram with an image of vols in the background. Could it all be nothin? Likely will lead to nothing but MetalVol raised a question mark with his response.
LG is a need and Seaton not coming presumably leaves some cash. I do think this staff and Spyre swings hard, but i do think it is very strategic swings. A quiet offer to Tate would be very strategic, but nothing is realistic at this point.

I'm fine with whoever we get at WR. If it's Brazzell, I'm good with that. Someone else, good with that. At TE I'd prefer Staes. But if it's Dingle, whatever. I'd love if we'd pursue Chase Bisontis to be our other starting OG. I don't understand why we're pursuing the OL we've been linked to, other than this staff sees them as potential diamonds in the rough. And I think they target too many of these unpolished diamonds, and not enough of the guys who are already ready to shine.

My main concern is defense. With Baron in the portal, I'd love to see us pursue Princely Umanmielan or Trey Moore to replace him. Supposedly we're going after Fadil Diggs, who is also a good option, but if all of our eggs are in that basket, what happens if we miss? We have multiple options for TE, but not Edge? At DL, like I said, I understand avoiding Nolen, though I'd love to have him, but why not someone like LT Overton? Honestly, I wouldn't mind pursuing some guys based on potential there, like Will Norman, or Xzavier McLeod. I wish we'd pursued Chris Paul at LB, but it's too late there. Not sure if there's another veteran LB worth pursuing or not, though I do think we could use one. At CB, Nyland Green would be my first choice. I'd also check out Tyreek Chappell and Corey Thornton. At safety, we supposedly expressed interest in Kamari Ramsey, but someone said VQ reported he has no interest in us. So I'd look at Andrew Mukuba, or Akili Arnold. Maybe the Dunnam kid from Indiana, or Grant from Buffalo.

The defense needs a lot of help. I want our young guys to get reps, but we need veteran presence to balance it out. And we could improve this defense so much if we could get some of these portal guys. I'm just not convinced FCS CBs are the best option. It falls into our coaches looking for players they consider "diamonds in the rough".

We need to be trying to shrink the talent gap between us and Bama and Georgia.

Uga nearly whole defense in the portal. Seems like a golden opportunity to me. Or we could see if those fcs cornerbacks want to come aboard after they check out every other option.

Some of these “high-level guys” are asking for a ridiculous amount of money and may not be the best individual to add to your locker room. Plus, like many free agents in pro sports they may lose some of their love for the game once they get the “big money”. Coaches have a lot to consider and must do their job of betting before adding portal players.
