Gary Danielson said yesterday he believes Malzhan's read option offense and the speed of it is going to change the landscape in the SEC. A QB with legs is essential. Does anybody know about Fergie's wheels?

Lol, if it changes any landscape, defenses will be the one to change, not offense. Ex. When the raiders had Upshaw and Otto, the chiefs ended up getting Buchanan, a HOF DT. Defenses will adapt accordingly.

Actually Upshaw and SHELL were drafted in response to Buchanan...good point on defenses adjusting though

Whoops, then Buchanan was the response to Otto. It works in opposite also. I thought one of those raider linemen were drafted before Buchanan. If not, then I'll make a better example.

I know Otto was before Buchanan so that one worked..reading Al Davis biography it was lauded that Upshaw was the response to Buchanan and I'm pretty sure Art Shell followed but your point on the chess game is spot on...Me being a Bears fan, I can throw in the league wide adjustments to the 46 Defense which kept the Monsters of the Midway from becoming a dynasty

Doug also said we're taking 33...if I'm not mistaken Butch said 35 himself...

Doug also said that our Juco situation is fluid and that we have 8-10 guys we're after (which may be true), but he followed that up by saying none of them are solid...last I checked we have 4 that are.

Butch said "I'll sign 35 if I can"..... I took it as a bit of hyperbole. Might as well have said "I'd sign 50 if I can"... Now, he might find a way to sign 35, but I don't think he was legitimately setting the number at 35, as opposed to 32. In other words, 35 is a "wish list" number for him.

Doug Matthews said this morning he believes Fergy starts next year.
Seems logical as he's the only one that has not dipped his wick so to speak. The third game would seem fair for him to do that. The others had tough first games.

It's weird how it all works. Teams always try to neutralize other advantages. We both know defenses will respond.

Off topic but I believe Stanford's DC would neutralize Auburn's triple read option. Just my 2 cents.

They always say that and then someone learns how to defend it.

There was not much "read-option".

They call a pass, run, play-action, etc... only difference is that it's the same formation consistently. It goes down to the play calling.

They just made the play-book "player-friendly"

When you put the game in the QB's hands, it can get rough if the QB doesn't make the correct reads.
