While that game against FL was very good I've always remember the game w/Ala. when he took a handoff up the middle & all of a sudden a LB came into the hole for a tackle. Travis made a cut on a dime leaving the LB grabbing nothing but air as he ran for 65 yards & a TD.....awesome!! Happy Birthday big fella!! You were one great back to watch.

Don't forget the 2001 Arkansas game. Stephens had 41 carries for 206 yards and a TD. He pretty much put the entire offense on his back in an amazing effort.

Happy Birthday Travis

Did you switch from 25 to 34 in '01?

You had such a great year in '01 I always remember you as 34 regardless.

I do remember before the start of his senior year & the SEC season it was discussed whether or not Travis would be able to take all the bruising punishment of tackles through an entire SEC football campaign because of his size & weight plus a year end Bowl Game. He withstood all that punishment & didn't back down as to prove that he's one tough sob to come in from week to week to help keep the UT Volunteers stay on top of the SEC & to be recognized as one football powerhouse in the nation.

Man, he was a good one. We went thru a spell there having the best tailbacks around. All those guys hit the hole with a purpose and ran over and around people. Those days were the best. Hopefully those days are coming back soon....

Class guy, VFL, great player. What he and his teammates did in the swamp that day remains one of my favorite Vols wins of all time. I still watch it and want to jump from my seat when he takes off, every time. Guy was unstoppable.

Happy birthday, brother in orange and white.

I know you're on here, Travis - Happy Birthday!! Thanks for all the great memories, especially the ones of you running it down Spurrier's throat in 01'. Hope you have a great day.

Hope you have a happy birthday!!

Please feel free to share your fondest memories from your playing days! We would love to hear it. I mean draining the swamp has to be the most popular one. Any others come to mind?

Happy birthday Travis! Thanks for the memories! 2001 was the last title contending team we had so it goes without saying that we need more men like Mr. Stephens. I think those days are returning. GBO!

Happy Birthday to Travis. I think of toughness when I hear his name. Carried the bulk of the running game in 01, he was basically it. The screen against UGA, TD against Bama, and the whole Florida game were some of the best efforts you will ever see.
