Man, that sucks. Glad they caught them. Hope this doesn't keep him from playing on Sundays some day. The kid has a gift and deserves to be a millionaire.

Thankful this was found early before anything serious occurred.

Sad for Trey not being able to play, but that isn't what is important.

When he was cleared to play, I had it in the back of my mind that the clots would probably return. Damnit, I hate that I was right about this one.

Did they ever identify the root cause of this, or is this an issue that he's had to deal with even before coming to UT?

Chris Bosh had this same recurring thing. He came back for the heat and ended up having to retire in his prime because he can’t get cleared to play by any doctors. Hate to see this for Trey

I immediately thought of Bosh, too. I hope things work out differently for Trey.

I’m sure he will get his health in order which is the most important thing. It’s a shame if he is never able to play again (here or anywhere). Kid had a bright future ahead of him in the NFL.

Hope for the best prepare for the worst Trey. This is the worst for Vol football right now but a good thing that this illness which can take your life has been found while it can be treated. My hope for you and yours is nothing but the best in the days ahead, take care of yourself young man.

So sad for the young man. This especially painful not having a mom to help him through physical struggles like this. At such a young age to have lost the most important person in your life and have major health problems yourself is very tragic. Best wishes to the big fella.

We'll rush for under 20 yards now.....
Class. You cannot define it but you know it when you see it, also when you see someone without it. You have zero.

Trey Smith = VFL. Hope he gets healthy and can move on to have a full and productive life.

I wish this was my site. I'd permaban you after this asinine comment.

Back on topic, did they ever say what they thought caused them in the first place? I hope he gets well soon, hate it for such a wonderful guy.
Same thing that caused them in both my wives. Genetic predisposition. He should have a long healthy life...just needs to give up the risky physical toll. He gave it a shot...them reoccurring so soon is a stop sign.
