Even if a decision is made it could be a while for a new coach if he or she is still coaching in the ncaa tourny.
Good God man, do you remember how long it took to get an offensive coordinator? We’ll be lucky to have a head women’s coach by start of next season!
GBO!!

Trey wallace just did a live broadcast from Columbus & mentioned he is hearing Holly may be announced as early as Monday. Also said there are rumblings about Arkansas head coach as replacement

I hope to God the K-ville scuttlebutt is better than this. First, it's not a given that Holly is gone. Second, I live in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, 15 miles north of Greenwood where Neighbors was born and bred, and 60 miles south of Fayetteville where he went to school and cut his coaching teeth. Hard as it is to believe, this place is more dedicated to in-breeding than U.T. In other words, not a chance.

Holly could very well be gone on Monday or sometime this week but I seriously doubt Arkansas's head coach would be a candidate for the vacant head coaching job

Why am I seeing so many list on her with Nicki Fargas? Is she not almost out of a job also. Make it make sense people. Y'all can keep dreaming about Walz also. He's got it made at Louisville top recruits and a million dollar contract. He built that program to what it is now. He's not about to walk away. Karen Aston is another name that's about be out of a job, she good for getting top recruits and underachieving.
I agree with you on Fargas. I just don't think it would be much of an improvement and probably some of the same ole stuff we are seeing now.

I agree Walz is probably not leaving a program he built and the situation he is in, but I would make him tell me no at least 3 times.

Would be a good opportunity for all parties involved. You thank her for all of her years of service, keep her on our team as part of the administration, and move in a different direction from a head coaching standpoint. Would be a very classy decision.

This should have been what happened to Fulmer, which is why I believe it could happen.
Nope, she like fulmer has sucked enough money from athletic budget. They should be set for retirement, not taking up an empty office in the athletic offices. At least Fulmer is earning a little bit of his salary when hiring woman’s head basketball coach.

I think if you go back a page or two, the op stated that he misunderstood Trey Wallace’s broadcast and that he/she was mistaken about Arkansas’ women’s coach.

She doesn't need to be. We need a quality head coach to bring a championship back to the hill. Harper does NOT qualify.
I completely disagree. I’ve really paid attention this year to her history coaching and I think she’s the best realistic candidate. She can coach (watch her recent games), won championships here, and is still young in terms of coaching.

Hmmm...she never had a winning record in the ACC in 4 years and was canned.. Any team she took to the NCAA tournament (very few) were eliminated in the first round. Kelly is where she needs to be. Coaching a mid major school. We need a court general. Kelly never has been one nor will she ever be.

I figure Tennessee will lose a bit of their recruiting class but that happens with every head coaching change.

You know, there’s also the possibility that recruiting won’t be hurt at all, and could even improve. That’s part of what’s so exciting about these times. We’ll know soon enough! If Horston stays — and my gut tells me she’s already a Lady Vol For Life — we’re golden! 🤗

I’m anxious for the new coach to get started! She/he will turn this thing around, and this time next season we’ll be waiting for our Round 2 game.

Her or Brenda Frese... People are so stuck on getting a big named coach but that isn’t necessary to me. Can the coach bring the best out of their players. Can the coach get them to excel when the odds are against them? Is there a belief and culture the coach instill?

Those are the things that are important and it looks as if Kellie can do that. People say look at her success record but she got WCU on track and Mo St back on track and has seemingly grown in her coaching style and ability learning and expanding her coaching. She also schedules tough out of conference opponents to prepare her team.

Frese has won a conference championship every year she has been in the big 10 and was also successful when the ACC was the best conference in the country with UNC and Duke and other programs were often in and out of the top 25. She has been to 3 final fours but I would want to see her schedule harder.

Jeff Walz maybe but I don’t know if he would leave and if the athletic department wants to pay his salary both of these ladies along with Wes Moore would probably be more affordable especially if Holly moves to the athletic department and there is no buy out. Paying 450k for Kellie or around 650k base pay for Wes or Brenda wouldn’t break the bank and would probably generate.

Geno, Muffet, Tara, and Dawn are all happy where they are and the first three have assistants that are pretty much in waiting to take over. Remember Neil Ivey turned down the Vandy job to go back to ND two years ago and I think she is an Associate Head Coach and won a natty there as a player. I think Stanford’s Associate coach turned down the Washington job and went back to Stanford. And UConn has Chris Dailey (she has been with Grno since the beginning so I wonder if she goes when he does) and Shea Ralph who are in waiting. So everybody that is suggesting one of the assistants I don’t know. Also Carol Owens I don’t know if she would leave either... but we know at least Wes Moore, Brenda Frese, and Kellie Jollie Harper can make in game adjustments.

How do you know that?

Kim’s got a grandbaby after her daughter lost the first one. She’s more likely to retire than move, especially very far away. What say you @BUBear?
I would have to agree.

"IF" Kim were to leave for another job, "IF", that school would be in her home state of Louisiana and the boat at La Tech sailed along time ago IMO.
